Was it an historically close sweep, though?

Talk about time to prepare. Jeez. A whole week off before the playoffs and then another whole week before round 3.
Also why the heck don’t the Heat have home ice? 2 games in Stockton and 3 in Colorado?

I hope that's a typo. How in the hell does the 1st overall team get less home games in a playoff series vs an inferior opponent? That's bush league crap if true.

I think it's to save on travel but I agree if the series need 5 games it should go back to the team higher in the standings. I wonder if they are still considered home even if they aren't in a game 5 for rules like last line change and faceoffs etc...

here is the reason behind the series splits as I know it:
-Heat, as the higher seed, had the option of either having the first two home games, or the last 3.
-The Heat must have opted to bypass the potential of a 3rd home game in an attempt to get off to a good start in the series... with hope being a 5th game wont be necessary
-reason this rule exists is part of AHL cost mitigation due to revenue losses during a pandemic year is, there is a large enough distance requiring a flight between these teams, and therefore, aim is to remove the extra set of flights, so its designed as a 2-3 series... there was no option of having first 3 at home and then last 2 on road, otherwise they likely would have just done that.
Go Heat!

I think Ontario chose two on the road in Colorado, followed by three at home. That didn't work out well for them since Colorado swept

HEAT FACE EAGLES IN PACIFIC DIVISION FINAL SERIES
Stockton won five of eight matchups with Colorado during the regular season, including three of four at Stockton Arena. Both teams enter the series undefeated in the playoffs after the Heat completed a three-game sweep of the Bakersfield Condors in round two and the Eagles won a pair over Henderson in round one and three games against Ontario in round two.

$30 for best seats in the house... and plenty of 'em!

Tough sell for a team apparently on the move.
Probably cheaper to fly down to Stockton and catch a Heat game than a Flames game!

As per AHL Transactions wire...
Rory Kerins! and Ilya Nikolaev sign ATOs with Stockton
Heat also add a Free Agent undrafted defenceman Rhett Rhinehart (Saskatoon Blades) on an ATO.

Rhett Rhinehart (D) 20 years old, shoots R, 6'4"223lbs.
2022: 53gp/7g/20a/27pts,even, 84 PIM.
Playoffs 2022: 5gp/1g/3a/4pts, 8 PIM.
He was ranked 111th by Central Scouting for the 2020 Draft. At that time, he was considered a player with offensive upside (15pts in 36 games for the Cougars, then traded to the Blades, where he put up only 3pts in 21 games), with good passing and snarl, but a need to upgrade his skating and own-zone play. Since the trade to Saskatoon, he has changed his game around-sacrificing offence to develop his defensive game, which is now his strong point. He still passes well, but has added a good stick, good gap control, and added meanness and physicality to separate his man from the puck. He has upgraded his skating, and is considered to be fairly mobile for a big man, but still needs work.
