Series Preview: Oilers vs Blues
Edmonton Oilers: 47-27-8, 214 GF, 193 GA, 18.15% PP, 82.87% PK
St. Louis Blues: 43-32-7, 224 GF, 216 GA, 14.34% PP, 80.87% PK
The Oilers had a good season, finishing 3rd in the West, going through good and bad patches but consistently near the top of the West. A fairly young team, the Oilers added some veterans in Zdeno Chara, Jordie Benn and Jakob Silfverberg in order to get some veteran leadership ahead of the playoffs. Led by Mika Zibanejad and Artemi Panarin up front, Colton Parayko on the back end and Robin Lehner in goal, the Oilers are confident they can beat any team in this league if they can bring their A game on any given day.
GM savardandjokinen talked to the press today, saying "The Blues are a very good team. They have no problem scoring, we're going to have to shut down the likes of Eichel, Ovechkin, Stone and Huberdeau up front. They're good on the back end too, Suter and McDonagh are both terrfic defensemen and they got depth up and down their lineup. They got a good tandem in net in Raanta and Anderson and we're going to have to get lots of pucks of net to score."
The Oilers only key injury is Jordie Benn. They will enter the playoffs with:
Panarin-Zibanejad-Teravainen
Silfverberg-Karlsson-Shaw
Bertuzzi-Horvat-Mantha
Beauvillier-White-Greenway
Extras: McGinn, Bratt, Kempe
Parayko-Lindholm
Schmidt-Chara
Klingberg-Edmundson
Extras: Girard, Benn (IR)
Lehner
Grubauer
Good luck to DropIt and the Blues, I'm interested to see what you have to say about your team ahead of this clash.
