But do you really think that the Flames coaches do not "trust" Eddie Lack? It could be, but I think it is impossible to say at this point with how the Flames' schedule has unfolded. They have played only two back-to-back games, and one of those was in Vancouver following a home game, which does not carry with it the same issues and concerns as games in the middle of a road trip. Seven of their first 15 games have taken place after at least two days' rest.
The point is, it should not come as much of a surprise to see that Smith has started 14/15 games so far with how much off time the Flames have had in between them. We will have to see what happens once the schedule gets heavier, but I will be surprised if Lack does not start to get more starts in late Nov and early Dec.
|
Ya, I don't know for sure about Lack and I understand the schedule thing, I just have this gut feeling. We will have to see if Smith begins to struggle at all. I just hope they don't play him like 70 games and then he runs out of gas at the end of the season ala the Oilers and Talbot.

Has Gio been confirmed in? Is so, kudos to Reese for waiting for an off day.

Do any of you have kids? It might be a little challenging for Gio to rush back into the lineup after going through the birth of a child just 1 day prior.
Can we not get a couple of days paternity leave for athletes? I know sports is super important and all, but perhaps we can afford Gio an extra day off?
I took all of 1 week paternity leave for the birth of my daughter recently, but I should be able to take off a lot more than that to help out my poor wife who is still recovering at that stage.
I wish that as a society we created a better opportunity for fathers to be present.

Hopefully Gio's wealth can afford him the opportunity to fly in some family for help on game days.

I completely agree, but I'm guessing Gio probably wants to play. I don't think the Flames are forcing him to play and they most likely offered him the night off.

I had a conference a few days after my wife gave birth to our first. Flew her mom in to pinch hit.
Sacrifices. Don't be a wimp Cali.

I hope they put a mic in front of Andersson tonight. He had a Hudler-like silliness in preseason

The coaches/GM are finally starting to do what we've been wanting them to do. This is the exact group of 18 that should be playing each night (Hamonic in when he's ready).
Bartkowski and Stajan should be regular scratches and it's nice to finally see it.
It would be interesting to see F. Hamilton or Hathaway in Brouwers spot for a couple games to see what our absolute most ideal team looks like (aka Brouwers contract jettisoned somehow someway).
No matter I'm happy with the lineup!

Not everybody has the support network you were lucky to have.
Don't assume CroFlames.

I think its pretty safe to assume they have a single family member to assist if need be.
As to whether or not he plays, who knows. Choice is his. Seems like a competitor so I expect to see him.
