A lot of rumors that Miller and Boeser would be traded but both were given extensions so now who do the Canucks move if they want to shake things up? Horvat is a pending UFA but also their captain. Garland’s name has been out there but he is not bringing back a high end Dman on his own in a trade.

I think the Canucks are like the Jets and stuck on the bubble with some nice forwards, a great goalie and thin D corps. As of today it feels like it is Vancouver, Vegas and LA battling for that third spot in the division.
I don't really like the makeup of their roster but I think there's enough individual talent to sneak into the playoffs. Boudreau is still one of the best head coaches in the NHL and as long as they get excellent goaltending with Demko stealing games, they should be in the mix all season long.

What bounce back? Myers and OEL were as good as you could reasonably expect either of them to be last year - they already HAD a bounceback - and the blue line was still mediocre at best. At worst it was ugly.

That being said, on paper, I still think it's about as good as Edmonton's blue line... which I shall now submit as the textbook definition of "damned by faint praise".

They're placing a lot of bets on wild cards. Kuzmenko's KHL performance suggested he'd be good for 50-60 points in the NHL, but we've heard that before from European players. Mikheyev scored at a 30+ goal pace, but he has no previous track record of doing so. Boeser had a bad year last year but had a lot of personal stuff going on. Hoglander was terrible under Boudreau but good the year prior.

They're just hoping every "maybe" turns out for them, which is not where you want to be.

That's most teams, I think if OEL plays like a 5MM a year guy and Myers can stop taking bad penalties they should be okay, they played like a playoff team under Boudreau so I think that should be the expectation. They are probably a 6-10 team in the conference

Interesting comparison to the Jets. I've always felt the Jet's defense corp was above average; but the team as a whole couldn't play up to its ability.

Vancouver's defense is definitely a tire fire. Anyone remember the 3-0 breakaway in OT from a few years back? Only one of the Vancouver skaters even tried to get back into the play. Vancouver's D may have improved since those days, but not by much, as evidenced by the need for Demko's heroics to keep them competitive in games.

You can be bald or fat, pick one. Unless you're rich, then it doesn't matter

Interestingly, if you are a female and fat you are now celebrated as BBW. Bald and fat females might have a tough go, to be sure

Somebody named 'Lil Baby' didn't show up -- not sure if that's referring to one of the Canucks players....
