Mathew Barzal has been struggling this season as a Hurricanes, his poor play has pushed him to the 2nd line for the first time in a very long time.
I'm not saying that Barzal is on the block, but this is the closest he's ever been, he needs to pick up his play or there's a chance he'll no longer call Carolina home
The Hurricanes rebuild was built around Mathew and he still has another 5 seasons after this one before he becomes a free agent... it's far too soon
Please don't ask me what I want for him, I have no interest in sending out offers to remove him from my roster at this time
This is just a notice to the league that someone might steal him from Carolina

An interesting idea from some recent talks that didn't come together. If anyone wants to trade a pending RFA/UFA defenseman in the 67-68 range with decent DEF rating along with two forwards (or a very good forward) I can package Cam Fowler (72OVR) and Blake Wheeler (73OVR).
So I'd take a downgrade on defense for putting the rest of the value into the forwards.

I need to open up a spot in the AHL. Selling Ivan Fedotov for a late pick, to whomever could use a good goaltending prospect.
My goal is to bring Dube back to the big club, but need a space to make it happen. So Fedotov for a '24 5th would do it.
