https://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/nhl...oach-1.5812649

Hadn't seen it mentioned here...

Pie was a great leader for the team during some dark years. Nurtured by Darryl Sutter to become a pretty good coach...

Wasn't he a disaster as a WJC coach?

Coaching his own son at the NHL level - how often has that happened before?

Brett Sutter didn't get to play while Darryl was coach, he was drafted by his dad. He played with his dad as GM and uncle as head coach

Would be both awesome and awful to have your dad as your NHL coach.

I hope Lowry consulted with his son before taking the job or else Christmas dinner could get very awkward.

I had a flight with Mrs.Lowry from Victoria to Calgary and was very impressed with they’re family. They’ll manage just fine.

Brent and Rich were both in Chicago when Darryl was the head coach, and Ron was in San Jose when Darryl was the coach there.

Ron missed overlapping with Brian in Calgary by one year.

What are you saying, though? Like their family will manage fine in life? Lowry will manage fine as assistant coach?

Maybe this will eliminate the bone-head stuff that Adam Lowry does sometimes on the ice.

Why would you think so? In my personal experience my kids—being much more comfortable with me—are more prone to challenging my authority than they are that of outside authority figures.

Don’t remember but the Hitmen were great in his one year as HC, and he has a winning record at Victoria (but not a good PO record).

Yeah, because, sitting beside them on an airplane flight really lets you know their family on a micro level. Especially a public family at that.
