It's not exactly "putting the player in a position to succeed". Though it is only Stockton - SJ. Which is a 1.5 hour drive or so.

Right, but as a rule teams want to see the player in a practice first before he makes his NHL debut.

I see the Heat played @ Iowa yesterday and Saturday.
Interestingly, they play in San Jose on Wed.
