I usually goto the Crowfoot Bottle Depot in the NW. You just dump it on the table and the guy deals with it.

I like the one at Center St and 61 Ave. S. They're pretty good there and pretty quick... (Also it's about one block from work, so it's convenient)

Do they rip you off if they do the counting for you? Ex- saying you have less bottles that you actually do?

Usually, but the guy is sorting through my discarded bottles. If he take 5 or 10% off the top I'm usually ok with it. Consider it a tip for a minimum wage guy doing a job no one WANTS to do.

The Tsuu T'ina bottle depot (adjacent to the gas station) is a really good one, I find. Pretty far SW, if that works.

F them, I have been ripped off twice from that one.

First time I thought it was a mistake, second time I brought an exact amount and was short changed again. This was a few years ago.

Ever since, I have been going to the Fishcreek bottle depot (just off Banister Road, close to Totem) and they are quick, efficient and not stealing from me.

Theres a bottle depot right beside the Heritage C-train station. I think it's called Trail Bottle Depot? Just dump your bag and they do the rest. I don't think I've been ripped off, but like Crusader says... if I do they probablly need the money more than me.

When I used to live in Crossfield the Bottle Depot was great. It was run by this really mean, redneck, old ass guy. You'd just park, take out your garbage bags of bottles, tell him how much it was worth and he'd give you the money. Town was so small if you screwed with him he'd probably just hunt you down and kick your ass.

+1 for crowfoot. They sort through your junk for you. I'm sure they take money off (i'm sure most places do) but I dont think its an excessive amount

Heritage and Macleod Trail (sort of) tucked in behind the Heritage LRT station. Access only from eastbound Hertiage or the road the runs behind Shanks and stuff starting at Southland.

2 places I don't recommend: The depot on 37 St SW near Richmond Road... scary people work there and they make you sort your bottles. The other nasty one is the Bowness bottle depot on 16 Ave NW near Home Road... even more scary people (I think mostly homeless) work there and I'm sure most of their earnings go to the liquor store next door.

Is this a sign of the times? I saw a family collecting empties in the ditch near my place today. Been years since I've seen that, and even then, it was hobos doing the collecting.

There are two on Horton road. The one closer to Heritage station sorts for you. The one further south lets you do the sorting. I don't know why anyone goes to the south location unless they enjoy getting their hands all over dirty bottles.

On the weekend, the south one isn't usually as busy because of the sorting thing, so you can get in and out more quickly. Wearing gloves is a good idea there though.

I agree, avoid the one on the 37th and Richmond. Last time i went there, not only did they rip me off on the bottles, the guy giving me the money at the end ripped me off too.

In the NW, right by the University is the VRRI. You can just leave your stuff there with a tag with your info on it. They will then sort what you gave and send you a tax reciept and all the money goes to help them out.
