Default What's your embarressing distasteful favorite food

As I'm sitting here munching on a anchovies, shrimp, Jalapeno Pizza which my GF at one time described a punishment pizza served in hell. And no I'm not pregnant. I was wondering.

What's your one favorite guilty pleasure dish that everyone around you would find gross if they ever discovered you eating it?

Horseradish. I absolutely can't stand even a whiff of it.

It's kinda strange because I like spicy/savoury things.

^^^ I don’t think he was asking for foods that you don’t like but ones that you do like but everyone else doesn’t.

I’m a bit boring but I really love black jujubes/jellybeans and everyone else seems to hate them.

Not my “Favorite” thing by a long stretch, but get a craving for it sometimes, which my wife is baffled by.

Haven’t had Mini Ravioli in forever but I remember liking it more than regular ravioli because it was less doughy.

Not sure I’d like it any more though! My palate may have evolved a little bit.

Lol funny that you posted that! I bought a can of Beefaroni a few weeks ago for the first time in probably a decade. I was walking by it and suddenly craved it.

Not nearly as good as I remembered.

I'm a kind of picky eater so can't really think of something gross, maybe the weirdest thing is the # of crackers I'll put in mushroom soup if I let myself. To the point it's like mushroom cracker paste instead of soup.

I like Pizza Hut, which seems to get a bad reaction from about 30% of people, because it's so greasy.

And I usually think that everyones great little community strip mall pizza joint really just sucks in comparison.

I only like Pizza Hut's personal sized pizzas, anything bigger and I don't like it.

I have a couple. I get a craving for a can of Puritan Irish Stew about once a year, opening the can makes me want to gag but once it’s cooked up I actually enjoy the flavour. The other one is chicken skin sandwiches. On the rare occasions we get Chicken On The Way or KFC I like like to peel the skin off the breasts or thighs and eat it in a nice fresh slice of white bread or a bun with butter. Hmmmm, maybe I should try dipping them in Puritan Irish Stew!!!

Haggis and Black Pudding. I love the spices, texture, and overall flavor, but I know these rub a lot of people the wrong way.

Peated whiskey is definitely an acquired taste.

I put anchovies in my homemade Caesar salad dressing. That bothers people when I mention it.

I like to use chicken livers ground up in my bolognese, but I know people that get grossed out by that.

Pate and Fois Gras? I dunno, some people don't enjoy it I guess.

Oysters on the half shell can bother people because of the texture. Same goes for Okra.

Cilantro is an essential topping on Mexican and Southeast Asian food, but I know lots of people who complain that it tastes like soap to them.

To me, none of these are that bad, but I have memories of several people being utterly disgusted by them.

I kick it up a notch with some extra seasoning. My wife says I should just get some cat food instead.

While I'm not hugely adventurous with food, I do have a few (may not fit exactly into your opening example, though):
- Crispy bacon only: I find the giggliness of anything (chicken skin or bacon itself), gross. So I cut bacon in smaller chunks and always make it crispy to the point of it on the verge of burnt. Most find crispy bacon gross. Opposite for me.
- Corned beef, fried with onions and chilies. Mmmm.
- Chickpeas sauteed, onions, chilies, turmeric, lemon juice. Delicious.
- Cooking with ginger juice. And sometimes just shooting ginger shots. Refreshing.
- Pizza Pizza (in Ontario)

You win. It's not just that it tastes terrible but once you find out how it's made..... Nasty.

I believe that most Scottish food was invented on a dare.
