Think we more than likely need to add 1. I have severe doubts that Kylington is coming back this year. Have to think the cut off date is about 2 weeks away for Kylington .

I saw an interview from Florida today where Kadri was asked who he thought was the most underrated player in the NHL. His answer was JvR, and he added that they were also good friends.
So, welcome to Calgary, James!

It’s almost like it’s a done deal at this point isn’t it?

One thing JVR can still do at an elite level is control and score on a PP. Not enamoured with his skating though.

Another member of the over the hill gang is just what we need. And bringing in good friends/family of current flames players has worked out so well in the past hasn’t it? Probably a trade with Montreal because Poirier and Peletier didn’t play tonight. I don’t know if the fan base can handle another bad trade . Yzerman/Sakic Treliving is not.

good points made. We have been hearing for years how close the group of players are and they seem to be getting closer but it has not made a difference on the ice.It might be better if they were not quite so chummy.

That would be a big mistake in my opinion. If you're going to acquire anybody (hopefully not at the expense of any 1sts or our best prospects), they need to bring in somebody who is at bare minimum an above average skater in terms of speed. Playoff hockey the game gets faster, right now compared to other playoff teams we lack in forward speed IMO, JVR makes us slower.

None of the Flames' top scorers were lighting it up in the team's first half season under Sutter, it wasn't until the next season that the offence exploded. Skilled offensive players seem to need more time to adjust to Sutter's system.

Last season was a anomaly for a Darryl Sutter coached team.
Skilled offensive players numbers usually take a hit playing under him. Darryl might get the best out of certain players but it won't be career years like last season. His are usually low scoring and keep the puck out of the net.
Last year we finished 6th in goals for the previous 2 seasons under him we finished 26th and 20th.

Game has changed since then, and so have some of his tactics. His system still allows for plenty of goal scoring.

This is only his 3rd season coaching the Flames. And only 2nd full season.

Sutter went in when the season was already in the toilet
Next year, Gaudreau and Tkachuk was playing for a contract
This year, huberdeau and Kadri came in with fat contracts with little to play for

Why does everyone say JVR is slow? His skating has always been a strength of his.

Sorry I mean under his previous tenure.
The covid season doesn't really count it was dumb.
Even the King finished almost dead last in goals for his cup winning seasons.

We are playing a similar style to what he employed in LA.
Hopefully the Seattle game is more of what we see goimg forward a rush game.
