If this is actually true, then things are gonna get even darker for a team that already has a cloud of uncertainty floating above it

I don't take much of what Frank says lately too seriously... But if Sutter wants to GM he has got to go sooner than later. I cannot handle watching another Sutter GM'd team.

I don't think Sutter gives many interviews so I think this is all BS.

I hope that's just Frank speculating because just shoot me now if we're going back to drafting refrigerators again.

Is there a summary somewhere of all the trades, draft picks, and signings Sutter made while he was a GM?
Obviously the Phaneuf trade sucked and stands out, but I wonder if that skews his overall record as GM.

Personally I've felt like the opposite since in interview's I've seen. He really seems to want to spend less time at the rink, not more.
If it's true though...then god help us. I want him nowhere near drafting and player development again.

Could explain why he doesn’t want to play Tres picks and plays lucic so high (not enough talent, gm isn’t doing a good enough job, have no other choice but to play Lucic in the top six) Sutter is playing the guys he wants to play… Tre is handcuffed, he can only bring up kids, but Sutter calls the shots. My opinion of course.

good gms don't sideline their organizations best talent and assume to know their ceiling before they lace up in the NHL
his lines this season tell me he doesn't assess talent well either. he constantly puts players in spots they don't belong

The Flames are already there. In the two drafts since Sutter's return, only two of the 11 drafted players are smaller than 6'2'' - Coronato and Beck.

Signing Darryl to an extension was a mistake, not re-signing Tre has the potential to be a big mistake and promoting Sutter to GM would be the biggest mistake of all.

Yeah say goodbye to a half decade of competing if that happens. Not like it’s not going to be rough with this current group but Sutter as GM could do serious damage to any recovery attempt 4-5 years from now.

I’m scared to think there’s truth to this.
Would certainly be some dark days as I don’t think Daryl thinks the game in the same light as what it should be these days.
Big, heavy, veteran stacked team
Rookies with continued no roster spots.
May god maybe mercy on our souls.

Sutter being the GM again might make me check out of the team for a while. Will go back to drafting big over speed and points and trading away draft capital for grinders.

If that was to happen there would be some great lolz to be had.
Has a NHL team within say the past three decades ever rehire a GM they hired?

I definitely feel a power struggle was inevitable when sutter was hired. Even more so when he got extended by a GM on an expiring contract.

Actually since this is an actual reporter that's speculating on something significant for the franchise, this would be a good thread to start a discussion on so it has a broader audience.

Frank is an idiot. Sutter has already had a lot of say on the roster construction.
If anyone wants Sutter to be GM it probably is the owners.
If Darryl Sutter is GM in 2023 we should sell the team.
