Agreed on Zary's supposed skating issues, I went to a few Wranglers playoff games and was pleasantly surprised with his mobility. It's the first time I've seen him in person so I can't speak to where he was at when he was drafted but he sure didn't look slower than his peers.

I was also impressed by his individual skill and grit, he seemed confident trying dekes in 1v1 situations and pulled quite a few of them off. If he were to get a full season with the Flames I feel like he could put up comparable numbers to Newhook IMO, 30 points in 82 games seems like it wouldn't be a stretch for his first season. I hope he has another strong camp.

Did the Avs pick up the wrong Olofson?

Stay away from Olosfon. He’s lazy and one-dimensional. The Sabres are trying to get rid of him to clear cap and a roster spot for better, young players.

With the season over the next big rumor likely warrants a new thread for next year.

He’s only good as a PP specialist.

Right winger Travis Konecny is said to be available from Philadelphia, but he makes $5.5 million (for two more seasons). Asked recently by The Athletic if he could add another high-priced player, Holland’s answer was succinct: “No chance.”

But, alas, there’s always a chance ...

Would Philly take Cody Ceci’s $3.25-million cap hit, and Foegele’s $2.75 million as part of the return? It might, if a sweetener like Xavier Bourgault or a second-rounder were part of the package.
LOL, hey do you want two ####ty hockey players for a PPG 30 goal man? We can throw in a second rounder or a ####ty prospect (not both though, don’t be greedy). Always nice to have a morning laugh.

Wrong thread, moved it over t the other thread if folks want to laugh at Spector.

So the Flyers will trade their best forward for two middling players and a mid level prospect? The RSN stink has really got into Spector.

I think the idea was that Bourgeault or a pick was the sweetner to take the bad contracts. Then you pay for Konecny.

So, the deal would look something like:

24 1st, Holloway, Bourgeault, Cici, Foegel and probably 1 more piece like a second rounder or a Mcleod or something.

It's silly but that might get it done.

Konecny is not what that team needs. They need another dman or 2 that can play below the goal line and move the puck and a coach that can instill a shred of defensive thinking in his star forwards.

Pesce is who the Oilers need. Hopefully the Sabres win that bid, they’ve got appealing pieces and no cap dumps to send.

It is unclear to me who the Oilers could send that would appeal to Carolina. They seem like the type of team that would be looking for good 20-24 year old pieces that could play this year. Jack Quinn, Peterka, those guys fit that bill. The Oilers have almost no 20-24 year old pieces that fit what I suspect the Hurricanes would be looking for.

Quick is 37 and worse than Vladar. .876 on a great team. And he will expect a bigger salary than Vladar based on his name.

Varlamov is 35. And he's going to want $4M. Talbot - also 35, his numbers took a nosedive and were no better than Vladar's. Think he wants only $2.2 or less? See also Jones (33 and .887 on a good Seattle team). Halak is 38 years old. He might sign somewhere but you can't count on enough starts with a guy that old.

Talbot is 25 and people are writing him off as a backup?
Talbot signed for $1 mil. So will the others and this will drive down the value of Vladar when you can just sign guys like Talbot for half the money

It is mind boggling that guy is employed by an actual giant company like SN. Just a bias HF calibre Oilers fanboy.
