Next five games:

Colorado
Arizona
Toronto
Carolina
Pittsburgh

That's a tough schedule, but I think 7 points would be enough to call it a successful stretch.

All I want is for us to play the first 10 minutes penalty-free. Feels like every Avs game we come out with jump, play the first couple shifts well, take a penalty in the first 5 minutes and it kills all of our momentum.

"Enough"???

Thats a .700 points percentage against 5 good teams, of course that would be a successful stretch.

I really have high hopes for Hanafin and Andersson.

If they can learn to run a successful PP as well that will be huge.

Hanifin-Andersson needs to become a full-time pairing, not just on the PP.

I am amazed that it hasn't become a thing yet.

Giordano-Brodie
Hanifin-Andersson
whatever is left

edit: in this case, Kylington-Hamonic

I think the Flames need to shake up both powerplay units. Saturday's game was a good watch, but I found it particularly frustrating to watch PP1 constantly fumble the zone entries. I think this group of players—Gaudreau, Monahan, Tkachuk, Lindholm and Giordano—is too comfortable playing together. They continue to depend on things that once worked: the bump-back to Gaudreau on entry, Giordano's writer from the left circle, the cross-seam pass-and-shot from Lindholm on the right. It's just not working right now, and I would much prefer to see some rotation between PP#1 and PP#2: swap out Giordano for Andersson or Hanifin; move Gaudreau to the second unit in place of Mangiapane, Ryan, or perhaps Dube.

Hamonic seems like a good guy to stick with Valimaki when he comes back as well.

Might be some growing pains but I think it would be good

Hmm. Good question. Let's see... a Flames broadcast of a road game in Colorado. Connor McDavid?

A win would just be so key to the Flames season. They've bounced back from that awful losing streak, but on an easy schedule. A win against a top team in the West, would really solidify that the Flames are back as contenders. Things I'd love to see in the game:

1. Gaudreau having a great game and playing hard against the Avs aggression.
2. The Flames answering back after physical play from the Avs. Potentially some big hits from Lucic. Are Rinaldo and Bennett in the lineup?
3. The Flames finding a way to shut down that top line of Colorado.
4. The depth coming alive for the Flames.

Since the playoffs, the Avs have really improved their depth with acquisitions like Kadri, Makar, Donskoi and Burakovski. They also pushed around the Flames last playoffs. The Flames really need to make a statement and show the Avs, that they aren't the same team either.

This isn't the last opportunity of the season for the Flames to prove who they are, but it's a great one.
