Easiest test would be to do the "squishing" he shows on the controllers that exhibit the drifting. I have never had a problem myself but worth a shot!

Can someone try this and report back? I replaced the stick on one of the controllers and it was pushing my handyman capabilities. This I feel I can do no sweat.

Doesn’t that method involve more steps? It looked like the old thumbstick needs to be removed and dismantled - unless he was just showing more details.

I did my old, defective thumbsticks though, I can take a look at them.

Is it still having troubles? Why not try what he's doing at 6:15? If so, that should have the same effect.

I was going to try it but I don't have the right screwdriver. Time to finally get one of those Ifixit kits I guess.

I don’t understand the weird screw heads. Is it to help create a secondary repair market or what? Also even using the recommended screwdriver, the heads strip easily.

They're great from personal experience.

But could you try the squeeze thing in the video first? Curious if that "solves" it temporarily.

Yeah it works. It’s shocking that it took this long to find a real fix. Hopefully Nintendo sees that video and makes the necessary changes.

I admit I didn't watch the whole video, but it appeared he just took it apart enough to put the piece of paper/cardboard in there which I assumed that meant there were no detaching and reattaching of the ribbon cables - that was the really hard part for me.

Is Skyward Sword a limited time release like the Mario 3D All Stars? I've never played Skyward Sword so I'd like to play it at some point, but I don't have much time for games these days and am working on a few other ones right now. Just want to make sure I don't miss it. I can't find anything saying it is a limited release.

I took mine apart on the weekend and did the card stock fix. So far so good but I've heard it doesn't work for everyone.

I sent some into Nintendo recently and they sent me a brand new pair, no charges. It took less than a week to get them back

Skyward Sword should be available to buy easily for a while. No forced scarcity on this one. I have just started it having not played it previously and the visuals are really nice. The button/stick controls are also a welcome addition that feel pretty good. I am slowly working my way through Twilight Princess with my kid on the Wii and I am so sick of the motion controls and I’m glad that Nintendo gives the option to ditch them for Skyward Sword.
