Farkas is not a mayor. He was barely a functional councillor. He lies, he manipulates the electorate, and everything he does is politically motivated, not for the people.
After the furor of many conservatives over Trudeau’s transgressions and the shock that anyone could vote for him, I am expecting fraudster Maglioca and Chu with his history of sexual assault to be shown the door.

In the federal election, I voted Liberal which I never do. Conservatives in both countries have had a horrendous run at all levels for the past 4 years and I just can't vote for them at any government level.
God I hope Farkas doesn't win. I'm not in Ward 4, but do the right thing guys, obliterate Chu. ####ing creep.

I believe in the Jays.

Predictions:
Mayor: Gondek
Ward 1: Sharp
Ward 2: Wyness
Ward 3: Mian
Ward 4: I really hope it's not Chu but I'm afraid the revelation came to late... I'm going to say Kelly thou because I want to help put that out into the universe.
Ward 5: Sandhu
Ward 6: Pootmans
Ward 7: McRae
Ward 8: Bobrovitz (purely on the basis of name recognition)
Ward 9: Carra
Ward 10: Chabot
Ward 11: Branagan
Ward 12: Spencer
Ward 13: DCU
Ward 14: Demong
Other questions:
Fluoride: Yes 60%
Time Change: Yes - 60% (I'm a "no" but I know lot's of people who hate changing clocks)
Equalization: Yes - 53% (YYC only - higher province wide)
Senate: Horner, Thunders, and some ham'n'egger who has CPC next to their name (more likely just three people with CPC next to their name but I have a feeling).

never. you'll have to force him out kicking and screaming, and then he'd sue.
Public hatred and shame will not move the guy to do the right thing. He believes he did nothing wrong.
I think he'll get voted in because so many people already voted and I bet many just vote for the incumbent. Wasn't there like 140,000 that voted early?

Substitute Farkas for Mike Nickel and that’s Edmonton. The danger is Farkas and Nickel could be elected leading to **** shows in both cities. I don’t live in either but will be watching intently and cheering for the competition in both cities.

I'd love for a poll to be added to the thread just on the daylight savings time issue because I'm truly curious where everyone stands on that.

I'm in Ward 10, and have to wonder about Chabot. I hope that he doesn't get in. I'm really hoping for some fresh new blood now and Chabot's the furthest thing from that. I'm hoping...as I've not seen almost any of his signs around, but I'm worried as he's "recognizable". *sigh*

I saw this the other day -- Sohi is well ahead of Nickel based on a recent Leger poll: https://edmontonjournal.com/news/loc...est-leger-poll
Hopefully Calgary ends up with a similar result...

This is the most nervous I have been for an election in a long time. I have been following council much closer over the past couple years than I ever have. So when I saw a neighbour down the street put up a Farkas sign I too put up my first ever political sign, for Gondek.
I genuinely think that a Farkas win would be terrible for the City of Calgary as a City and an organization. It's not so much his politics but how dishonest, disingenuous, populist and incompetent he is. While the mayor is only one vote they are still the largest voice representing the City/council. I hate to think how much he would poison the well when it comes to Council and the organization that is the City of Calgary.

I also thought the ballot would be long and complex but it isn't. There's 2, one is for the city, mayor, councilor, school trustee and the fluoride question at the bottom which I nearly missed.
The other ballot has the senators, equalization and DST time on it if I remember all of this correctly now.
It then gets scanned to make sure you got everything and it was all quite simple actually.
I picked a name for public school trustee without doing prior research but when I got home and looked up the candidates it turns out I picked the right one lol. There's no incumbent for Ward 8/9, maybe new, I'm not sure.

I didn't do any senate research, so I'll just follow your lead there since your other choices are reasonable.

I'm not saying you're wrong, hell I probably agree with you, but I just don't understand why someone would just vote for an incumbent without doing any reading into them. I know it happens, but what's the point? Why vote at all if you don't even know what the person stands for?
