Apparently it’s also the heaviest lego official build ever as well. It’s gotta have technic ribbing and some kind of external support structure.

12,000 pieces...*drool* Man, I'd love to build that, just for the piece count. Gonna have to look into this set

I saw its speculated prices as $650 USD, so I would guess around $800 CAD.

Unless 1/3 of the pieces are 1x1 thin blue plates for "water" like the ship in the bottle kit I can't see that pricing for that piece count.

I came here thinking I might post a question to see if there is a website with project ideas/instructions for people who have a ton of their Dad's generic 1980s lego (my kids), and stumbled across this. Mind blown. Thanks photon!!

Some days I am absolutely amazed at how far tech has advanced in 30 years, especially when the last 15 of those feel like the blink of an eye.

So, the review kits have gone out for the Titanic set. It's 9090 pieces, 135cm long, 16cm wide and 44 cm tall. Looks pretty amazing. Is available Nov 1 for LEGO members, and Nov 8 for everyone else. Looks like it'll be $799.99 CAD

You could buy 11,924 Lego Titanic's for the price of 1 Titanic in 1912 dollars. In today's dollars, that would be 317,965 Lego Titanic's.

That's a cool set.

lego keeps releasing these $350-$800 sets, so obviously there's a market for them. but I also have to wonder how much that market can tolerate?

I've reach the point where I'm out of space to display. The other problem is that they have somewhat have become quite static, I have not done fun arrangements / scenes / scenarios in a very long time.

With that being said, we will probably add this set to our Christmas lineup. So at least the Christmas pieces will still get updated and played with.

Yeah I know! As a new family hobby as AFOL, I can barely keep up with the “soon to retires” never mind the new ones.

I am halfway through my build of the new large Ecto-1. What a fun build! I do a bit every weekend as my “zen” therapy, and I’m really impressed with the level of detail and ingenuity. Also interesting to see some variations of pieces that I’ve not seen before.

That sounds really cool! I’m trying to do the same with the colosseum especially on a cost v my time basis. There can be repetition with the colosseum as well so I try to break it up.

There was a thread on Reddit about the build that got away and one of mine is the ghostbusters firehall. It’s very cool that the ecto-1 is a great build.

Got my musician son the Fender strat for his birthday. Hasn't built lego since he was a kid. Loved it and tons of cool details that a musician can appreciate. Laughed at the little picks included with the kit and even room in the amp for them to pile up just like his real amp.

I thought I'd throw it out there in this post. I've got a bunch of LOTR/The Hobbit Lego sets that I'd like to trade for Harry Potter sets. PM me if you're interested

That looks fragile and definitely needs to be out of reach of children or animals....

Otherwise quite cool and probably a challenging build.

Anyone making an order from the Bricklink Designer Program round 2, which went live like 15 minutes ago?

Nothing interests me this time around, but I snagged the Castle in the Forest from round one (lol, or at least I think I did? I can't find any trace of an order on Bricklink - but I have the email.)
