Funny enough, Flames had a poll when the team moved to Calgary but fans chose the name they already had. I think they made the right choice as it's a solid name. In the end, I'm glad it wasn't western themed or the runner-up "Calgary Chinooks."
Frankly, I don't see the real need for a "local" name. Lots of teams just have a heroic/tough/evocative name. Kings, Sabres, Red Wings, Flyers. There's no extra lightning in TB, the Bruins was just made up on the spot for no particular reason, the owner of the original Winnipeg Jets was a NY Jets fan.
Only 152 people cared to vote for the name of the Flames? Wow.
These contests are just to gauge what people are thinking. I'm pretty sure when San Jose did theirs, Blades won and Sharks was second, but they picked Sharks anyway.
AI Bots are not your problem! You have to worry about the pissed off ass holes of the entire state of Arizona, every hockey fan who has endured the joke that was the Coyotes for the past 20-odd years, random dickheads in general and an Elite Army of Russian Babushkas!

Meh, he’s the survey guy. I’m sure he has the team required to do it right. Plus I’m sure it’ll be to garner interest in what identity they should have. I can’t imagine they go into the season without a name or logo. That would be dumb. You have to have an identity to show your new fanbase.
I actually don’t mind that name. Not sure what the logo would look like but it’s kinda neat to have different types of names in a league. People always look to the aggressive names but sometimes the Wilds and Flames of the world are just a different variety.
