When I was a kid I heard "Dirty deeds and the dunder jeep". Always yearned for a dunder jeep, whatever the hell that is. Sounded so cool in the song though Ha ha

Jagr says a couple of NHL teams have shown interest, but nothing concrete yet. He says his most serious negotiations have been with a team in the 2nd tier Czech pro-league. If he signs in Europe it is his preference to sign with that league to keep the option of signing with a NHL team during the season open.

I'm really not a fan of the "new" Adidas Flames jerseys, but I'd sure as hell buy one right away if Jagr signed here.

I'd buy a Jagr the second he signs here. I like the new adidas uniform a lot more then the RBK mess.

Yeah, he mentioned that they had a very smart owner who knows what he wants. It was tongue in cheek.

I would not be against. For me, he is the real Czech hockey hero and to see him in a jersey of the club of my heart...it is a no brainer. And I still think he has lots to give. Our young players could learn a lot from him etc. The only problem I would have with Jagr signing with us, is that everybody here in Czech republic would be all of a sudden huge Flames fan as is always the case with any team Jagr signs with......And all Czech media would be full of Flames stuff 24/7. Jagr is like god in here. I am not used to Flames being No. 1 attention team in Czech media. Flames are no mainstream here in Czech republic so far, and I like it. So that is the thing I would not like.......

I don't get the interest in Jagr. People say they don't want Iggy because he is too slow but want to bring in an even slower guy? Our team is fast, we don't need an anchor in the lineup.

No. Many of the people who I've seen wanting Jagr are those who believe this team needs another forward. I'd be fine with Jagr, but I'd also be fine with Iginla, Stafford, (unpopular opinion) Vanek, or even Gionta.

Not all but some are so I don't get the logic behind it. We should pass on both, we already have too many forwards and we don't need a slow aging forward.

Blech. I don't think any of the names you suggest upgrade the roster at all. Jagr maybe. The rest are downgrades on what we've got IMO.

Jagr would upgrade our roster, but I imagine the Flames see the tradeoff as one year of Jagr VS a guy like Poirier or Jankowski making the team full-time in a top nine role and being with this team for another five-ten years.

OK. Just was a weird comment because. And they are different players.
I''m of the mind that neither should be signed. But there are things that Jagr still can do more effectively than Iggy (at least in my opinion).
Namely stick his big 'ol butt out there and cycle the puck down in the zone.
I'm not on board with signing either but that considerations can be made and it is entirely rationale that someone could say no to Iggy but yes to Jagr.
They ain't twins.

I would gladly take one of Iggy or Jagr on the team next season. While I think the team would be fine standing pat they definitely could use another top 6 RW and I am not sure Iggy or Jagr would prove to be upgrades on Ferland but on paper Jagr would be. Imo this is a rough estimate of the forwards that are locks
1. Gaudreau
2. Monahan
3. Backlund
4. Tkachuk
5. Frolik
6. Bennett
6. Ferland
8. Lazar
9. Versteeg
10. Brouwer
11. Stajan
12. ?
13. ?
Leaves 2 spots open and imo the 13th forward spot is for a guy like Hathaway,, or Freddy.
Jankowski is the obvious choice for the 12th spot be it top 9 wing or 4th line C. Poirier could be a wildcard as he requires waivers and a strong preseason may make it difficult to waive him after a bounce back from the booze. Shinkaruk also requires waivers. If both he and Emile impress they could be on the opening roster which leaves no room for Iggy/Jagr etc. I am a believer that Foo needs time in Stockton but who knows perhaps he was assured a spot as well for signings here?
Not a simple decision to bring one of these guys in

Yeah Iggy never had the puck control/possession skills of Jagr (few do). Iggy is best utilized as a 3rd man in looking for onetimers from the slot. Jagr is the one that feeds those. And we already have Monahan for that.
I want Iggy back for nostalgia and that's it. And it's admittedly not a good reason, but this is sports and emotion plays a factor.
