Friars win 2-0! Sweep Merrimack in their best of 3 series
They advance to the Hockey East semi-finals where they will face what looks like Northeastern University.
No points for Jankowski or Gilmour

I believe they reseed the brackets before the Hockey East semi-finals. If I'm reading the brackets correctly, Northeastern is one team they can't play.
Currently, the teams that are still alive are: BC (1), PC (2), Mass-Lowell (4), Northeastern (6), and Vermont (9).
Vermont pulled off the upset today and forced a third game against BC tomorrow. If BC wins, they'll play Northeastern and Providence will take on UMass-Lowell. If Vermont wins, PC will play Vermont and Northeastern will face UMass-Lowell.
This season, Providence defeated Vermont twice in Vermont and split the season series with Lowell, each team winning at home. The rest of the tournament takes place at the TD Garden in Boston, so it's neutral ground.
If they win their game on Friday, they'll play in the Hockey East Final on Saturday, which will be broadcast on TSN2.

Vermont is not going down without a fight. They have pushed Boston College to the brink and they are headed to OT in Game 3 of the Hockey East quarterfinal. They actually held the lead in the third period for almost 6 minutes before BC was able to tie it up.
A Vermont win would be a massive upset. They had a 6-13-3 record in Hockey East action this year, and a 15-21-3 overall record. On the other hand, BC was 15-2-5 in Hockey East and 25-6-5 overall.

Vermont had a 7-3 edge in shots in OT, but Boston College got the one that counted. BC wins in OT.
Providence will play UMass-Lowell on Friday night. The winner of that game will take on the winner of BC vs Northeastern in the Hockey East final on Saturday.

Next week's games of interest for the Flames' prospects...
- DeBLOUW: MSU plays Ohio State on Thursday at 7:30pm CDT (6:30 in Calgary) in the first round of the Big 10 playoffs. This game will be broadcast on BTN. This could be DeBlouw's final NCAA game (if the Spartans lose). The only way MSU will get to the NCAA Tournament is if they win the Big 10, which will require them to win three games next weekend.
- JANKOWSKI & GILMOUR: Providence plays UMass-Lowell on Friday at 5:00pm EDT (3:00 in Calgary) in the Hockey East semi-final. The game will be broadcast on NESN and NBCSN, but it doesn't look like TSN has plans to pick up the feed. If they win Friday's game, the Hockey East Final will be on TSN2 on Saturday.
Harrison's season is done at Colgate. Hickey and the rest of the BU Terriers are waiting to see where the NCAA Tournament will take them.

Friars announce that Jake Walman will undergo season ending surgery.
Sucks for the Friars and Walman, but potentially good news for Flames fans that want to see Jankowski in Flames silks before the end of the season.

I would also say good news for Gilmour as he will get a chance to play Walman's role and potentially be a key player in a repeat.

Michigan State is currently playing what could be Matt DeBlouw's final college game. It's early in the first period and MSU is currently trailing 1-0 on an early goal.
The game is on BTN. DeBlouw is #19 in green.

That's a good point. Maybe Gilmore can be in a position that is the opposite of Hickey's situation (at least offensively).
I noticed that Janko and Walman are All Stars. Is Walman not going to be able to participate in anything All-Star related?

There is nothing All-Star related if you mean like a game. Its just a recognition award. NHL does something similar at the end of every season https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NHL_All-Star_Team

Ohio State wins in OT. MSU's season is done, and so is DeBlouw's college career.
With a goal and an assist in the final game, DeBlouw finishes the season with 9G and 8A in 28 games played.
Over four seasons, he had 27G & 28A in 128 total games played. He had a very strong freshman year, putting up 21 points in 42 games, actually outscoring Mark Jankowski as a freshman. Then, he struggled heavily as a sophomore with only 4 points in 23 games. His game recovered over the last two years, but it never got better than what he showed as a freshman.

I'll be pretty surprised if the Flames offer DeBlouw a contract.
Maybe a PTO? Guess we will see.

Now begins the Matt Deblouw signing watch. Flames have until August 15 to sign him.
You would think at the very least he would join the Heat on an ATO if there is any interest at all by both parties.

Deblouw showed promise early on with his faceoff and defensive abilities, while seemingly only scoring when it mattered most. I thought he had a chance to turn into a really clutch Yelle-type. Will definitely be curious to see if the Flames try to sign him or even offer an ATO first.

OT: but man is Boston going to regret passing on 3 chances to draft Kyle Connor. 4 goals today in the Big10 semi-final.
College Hockey Inc.
@collegehockey
Most Goals, Last 10 Years:
36-Gaudreau, A Smith, Frattin
35-Gerbe
34-Kyle Connor @umichhockey
The way the kid is progressing even the Flames might wonder what might have been (nothing against the Hamilton trade - that is a trade you always do at the time - just saying Connor might be a special player).
