Default Star Wars: Episode VIII Thread (shouldn't have to be said but, Episode VII Spoilers!)

Thought we might as well start a new thread for this...

Dec. 2017 can't come soon enough...

He better have a line in the first trailer or I'm going to flip this table.

I'm expecting an Empire vibe from this movie.

LOL. I hope not. Just something darker and more philosophical than the first.

Disney's shown us that they can do right by Star Wars...I'm ready to see where they take it from here.

With Han dead, and passing the torch onto Finn.

I have this expectation, that Luke will end up in a confrontation with Kylo and lose, its needed to show the progression of Kylo with the Dark Side.

I have this expectation that the only surviving member of the original trilogy will be Chewie.

Oh and when it turns out that Lando = Snoke you'll all look at me with your jaws hitting the floor and say "How did you know Captain, How did you know?"

One thing is for sure, it better be a fresh storyline or Disney is going to get roasted.

I think the Death star concept, for example, has run its' course.

If they do it right, they got the 'soft reboot' out of the way and can now do something that is still Star Wars, but different. It should follow the theme of 'this is the darkest of the trilogy' and 'Rey will lose a hand' but they have a lot of places to go.

I think a pretty safe bet at a vague story outline will be Rey training with Luke and dealing with everything she learns about her past, Snoke training Kylo and him harnessing all that angst, and Poe and Finn going on a side adventure that will force Rey/Luke and Kylo/Snoke to meet with the latter getting the upper hand to set up the big finale.

I think Luke has a very minimal role. Like Yoda, provide a little training and a few lines the killed in the first 15 minutes.

Mark Hamil can't act, he will ruin the movie if he's got a major role in it.

Today, Lucasfilm also confirmed that all the major cast members will be returning for Episode VIII, including Gwendoline Christie. So, whatever happened to Phasma at the end of Episode VII, she must have survived. Lupita Nyong’o is also confirmed to be returning, so we'll also see more of Maz.

Harrison Ford and Peter Mayhew were not mentioned in the cast announcement. I assume Chewbacca will appear in the movie since someone has to fly the Falcon.

They also confirmed that Benicio Del Toro and Laura Dern will be joining the cast for Episode VIII. Del Toro is rumoured to be a villain in the film.

I wonder if Dern might be playing Rey's mother? She would be age appropriate.

My totally unsubstantiated theory is that Phasma comes back as some sort of cyborg like thing similar to Grievous.

Yeah any Star Wars movie where Mark Hamill has a major role is definitely trash.

Hamill is one of the best voice actors ever. As long as they are not expecting him to do much more than talking it should be fine.

Also, Captain Phasma is the most useless movie character ever and should have been killed off. I believe the only reason she is a character is to sell lego because wow is that an awesome minifig.

But she looks nothing like Mara Jade! (In my mind)

Well, she's going to have a much larger role in Ep VIII.
