ps, I plan to buy 2.
Definitely the 2nd one. Gotta get it quick though, that expires at midnight.

The IPS panels are far and away better technology. I'm quite happy with my TN panel Dell as well for the price, but when the cost is that close it's a no-brainer.

What do you want size or quality? The smaller Ultra sharp also has Display port and four USB ports. Maybe get three USharps and you can use them for Eyefinity.

if bezel-less LCD's ever come out Eyefinity might be worth it, but as it is the black bars in the middle of your viewing areas is just too distracting

personally i think i've retracted my original statement, and i'm gonna give that Acer 120hz monitor a shot. it won't have the best image quality, but from everything i'm reading 120hz screens blow even the best IPS panels out of the water when it comes to gaming. i'd rather take a chance on a monitor that i can pick up locally as well, since the return would be much easier if i don't end up liking it

They say they blow the IPS panels out of the water for gaming, but I haven't read a whole lot out there that clearly shows that in an objective way.. reviews are ok, but side by side comparisons would be better and measurements even better, since a review is subjective, and it's a well known effect for buyers to have good opinions of their purchases because they have a vested interest in being right, all things being equal. Kind of a placebo effect.

In theory it should be so (100Hz was the desired refresh rate when it came to high end CRTs), but in practice I'd like to see something more than subjective opinions.

Plus you need a video card that can drive that kind of frame rate, if your average fps in a game is 45fps then there's no benefit of a 120Hz LCD vs. a 60Hz one.

well i bought the Acer monitor today, and tomorrow i'm returning it. the viewing angles on it are terrible and honestly i couldn't really tell a difference between 60hz and 120hz in games. plus when set at 120hz the monitor gives out an annoying buzzing sound when there's a lot of white being displayed, like on CP

i think i may end up waiting until the new LG models that were recently announced come out, they look pretty nice

I have an LG (W2253V) and I'd recommend it to anyone.

I can't say I push the viewing angles, as it sits on my desk 2 feet away, but the image, video, and game performance is excellent IMO.

The only thing I don't like is that the screen angle isn't adjustable, so be sure you're OK with your screen sitting perpendicular to your table / desk surface

Thanks Hemi-Cuda good to know.

I forgot to suggest that (always ALWAYS get a monitor at somewhere you can return it), and I usually do.

I bought a 24" LG W2452T in the summer of 2009 and I love it. I've had zero issues with it.

I view at 1920*1200 resolution. I don't do any gaming, but movies run great.

I'd highly recommend this brand of monitor.

This is a consideration. You'll probably want to raise it up a few inches, but I don't find the lack of tilt bothersome.

well i ended up getting the Dell U2410 that photon recommended, since last week it was $200 off on dell.ca. so far i'm quite happy with it, viewing angles are great and the colors look quite good. and after firing up some Bad Company 2 i was quite impressed, i think i'm sold on IPS panels

I'm looking for a cheaper 24'' used primarily for watching movies. I play games on the PC but only games like starcraft and Civ so graphics are not essential.

What do you suggest for someone on a budget or will any old monitor do?
