That was a great hockey game. That Dallas arena is something else.

Default April 22 with two playoff games!

Almost all the western divisions winners out.

So somewhere an oilers fan is thinking they still have a chance.

Without the hometown crowd energy they are a completely different team I'll say Caps win game seven 3-0.

That's crazy.
And the bottom seed in the East...

Kinda makes you wonder if you should rest players nursing minor injuries earlier in the season (maybe about 10 games after the All-Star break) and go for the late surge with all your regulars in play at the end of the season. Those teams that had to fight tooth-and-nail to get into the playoffs were clearly more ready for playoff-intensity hockey that those that were playing meaningless games in March and sitting regulars in the last week or two.

It's also reminiscent of how things were when there was a CBA-mandated week off but it was different for every team. The teams coming off the break almost always did very poorly against teams that were in their regular routines.

Craziness.

Same as 2006. When the Flames really choke, it seems like it's contagious

Zuccarello and Cogliano trades paying off huge for Dallas.

Other formalities this playoff season:

(1) Tampa Bay beating Columbus.
(2) Calgary beating Colorado.

If one thing we all will eventually learn if we stay awake long enough, there are no formalities in the playoffs.

FWIW, Vegas is the only playoff team to play less than .500 on the road. Considering the 3 pointers, that's really bad, as .500 isn't really .500.

Zuccarello almost single highhandedly fixed their depth issues. He is playing like a man possessed. I always knew that he was a serious offensive talent, but his back checking last night was elite as well.

Lots of elite levels of obstruction in that game. I almost had to check the calendar to make sure it wasn't 1995 with the obstruction they were letting take place late into that game and OT. Players were getting pulled to the ice for crying out loud.

The refs put their whistles away. Both teams had an even playing field in that regard. The only time I get frustrated with the officiating is when it is inconsistent, and they were consistently calling nothing, no body got hurt, I have no complaints.

The pace of that game was blistering. Back an forth, with numbers, it was very entertaining hockey.
