Hertl, who guaranteed a game 7, comes through in the clutch. OT SH goal.

Jones picked a good time to remember he was supposed to stop pucks.

What San Jose has done is honestly what I truly thought would happen for the Flames. Huge home win, then squeak out a tight win in OT to take it home for game 7

Seeing other teams refuse to just roll over and die makes me sad.

You watch the playoffs and other teams that face adversity in a game or in a series, its eye opening to see how far the Flames were from even coming close to that kind of intensity.

This far into the playoffs and we still don't know a single 2nd round matchup...

Why can’t the Flames have a 1-2 punch up the middle like San Jose? Couture at #9 and Hertl at #17th pick. Flames had better picks in different drafts and nabbed Monahan and Bennett who in theory should’ve ended up as a great 1-2 punch.

Darn, too bad Feaster and Weisbrod wanted Jankowski and a 2nd round pick instead of picking Hertl at 14.

I wouldn’t be so quick. This can be bad in the fact the Flames cream puffed their way in and Avs fought for months.

Whoever they face will be battle tested for sure, and walking right into round two with momentum.

Agree about the Janko comment, sadly. I don't think he's a finished project, but he's no Hertl.

Speaking of Couture, He's had a lot of playoff experience to figure it out. No reason Monahan can't be just as good for us IMO.

Drafting with hindsight is easy...

Also, Sharks are massive chokers that are basically at the end of their window to win anything and honestly...they will be lucky to get out of the first round.

Got dominated tonight and won on a pretty fortunate goal

Well it’s hard to win in it all in this league and I’d rather be consistently in the playoff picture than the hit and miss mediocrity we’ve seen for decades. This franchise would be lucky to have such stability since the turn of the century. I’m just saying though, that Hertl and a Couture combo would be one helluva tandem.

It's not hindsight.

Trading rehgehr and a 2nd to clear capspace to sign Brad Richards to a 9 Million dollar per year contract was idiotic at the time.

Until this year Hertl was played at wing. Maybe Jankowski is better off at wing for a while. I'd give Bennett another shot at C.

In Couture's draft year, Calgary got Backlund at 24, after a bunch of guys that are not as good, so there's that.

I'm going to be so salty if Sharks come back to win that series..not only because that will mean they accomplished overcoming the 3-1 deficit and we couldn't, but also because I think we would've matched up very well against SJ. Vegas easier to handle winning, as I think they would have beaten us.

Figure what out? He's been point per game in the playoffs basically from the moment he stepped into the league.

He's what I hoped Monahan would be but Monahan just doesn't skate well enough to be that kind of player.

Didn’t really mean we had a chance at better quality player in 2007. Actually Backlund was m an excellent pick for the mid 20’s. But it definitely hurt that the team didn’t pick up enough quality assets when they were bad. The 2013 and 2014 drafts ultimately didn’t end up great for the team.

The 3 firsts in 2013 didn’t all pan out. There was Monahan and then 2 complete busts. Sam Bennett not becoming that true #1 center also hurts. Hunter Smith and Mason McDonald haven’t panned out as planned.

I guess sometimes it’s all about timing. If we rebuilt in 2010 and 2011 instead, maybe we end up with a Scheifele-Johansen 1-2 punch instead. Or a Seguin-Huberdeau combo if things went really south. Maybe in a different life.
