Flames fan for life since 1984 (7 years old)

Every season goes like this except 1

Pre-season - expectations
Regular Season - Go Flames Go
Playoffs - Skate Harder / Just Win / Next Year if they didn’t make it
Post Playoffs - Grrrr Next Year do this
Summer - Forget Hockey
Pre-Season - Repeat Above

This way till I die!

See you all in September CP

It's actually 2 in 30 years .
Counting 89 would actually be 31 years now.

It says a lot about where you start the timer in order to make your point, and what criteria you choose to include.

They are certainly not the worst in the last 31 years.

And I am pretty darn sure not all of the teams you are claiming are better have won 3 rounds in a single playoff year.

So really it probably does not say as much about the Flames as you think it does

Oiler fans could use that same logic and say they have the greatest organization in the NHL if you start the timer early enough.

What you've put forth is a standard whereby it's literally impossible to make a case that an organization has underperformed and underdelivered.

If it has done anything of significant note at any point in its history, just roll back the timer to start before that thing happened. If it hasn't done anything of significant note, it's because it hasn't been around for that long and you 'just gotta give it more time'.

And if all else fails, hey, "at least we're not the worst".

The Flames have won 4 total series in the past 3 decades. That's simply a fact and there's no way around it. It stinks.

Did the Flames have some results prior to 1990? Yes, they did. But as already mentioned, many of us are too young to have any recollection of those years.

What timeline would you allow that isn't "being used to make a point"?
5 years, 10, 15, 20, 25, 31?

FYI, none of them look good.

Yup...but that certainly doesn't stop young Oiler fans from beating their chests about the 80s right off the bat every single time a BoA chirp-fest breaks out...followed by every Oiler fan within earshot of it reacting like it's a kill-shot.
