The results of a study conducted by researchers from Duke University, Penn State University, and Intel Labs have revealed that a significant number of popular Android applications transmit private user data to advertising networks without explicitly asking or informing the user.

It won't be long now before some provider comes up with a "free unlimited data but we are allowed to monitor your usage pattern sell it to our partners" plan

That's the downside of a free for all vs. a tightly controlled environment (like Apple).

I know a lot of people simply ignore those warnings when installing apps. This is why I'm still using the default home launcher. The amount of access needed by ADW or LauncherPro just makes me way too uncomfortable.
