Default New Calgary stuff you love...(The Non-Nostalgia Thread)

Inspired by pylon's thread about the good ol' days of Calgary, let's talk about the awesome stuff that is propelling this city forward into a new era.

Restaurants, buildings, new services, businesses...

I'll start with the New Central Library, which went from this...

To this...(so far)

Shameless plug, we own/operate OwlBox Construction Time-Lapse..doing this project...

I've been inside recently - filming - and it is incredible. This building is going to be unlike anything this city has ever seen. Just amazing.

What do you love?

The Rotary/Mattamy Greenway, a pathway 138 KM circling the city. I think it was just completed last summer.

Hope to give it a go next summer.

As far as I am aware there are still some missing sections. A friend tried to do it last summer and there were some parts he had to navigate off road and such. But it is doable. I plan to do it this summer also!

The NE part of it is pretty impressive. My wife and I used it while she was training for her half-marathon. Long enough to run without too much issue. Varied enough terrain to provide some challenge but nothing overly crazy. Decently busy but not packed. Good stuff.

Stoney Trail is the best road improvement of my life. I know lots of you don't use it (which is pretty convenient for me), but I use it all the time, and the way it's made my life easier, not being dependent on Deerfoot has been just awesome.

The downtown cycle track is by far the biggest improvement to my quality of life in the time I've been living in Calgary (2002-present). It's reduced my commute from a 30-minute walk each way to a 15-minute bike ride, giving me an extra 2.5 hours of my life back every week.
