With the loss today and the Wild win, the Flames are now at #12.

Pittsburgh, St. Louis, New Jersey, and Buffalo are just slightly behind the Flames, but within striking distance. If all those teams overtake the Flames in the standings, we pick 8th. I doubt the teams further back are within reach though.

8th seems like the best they can do which I'll take at this point. Sure beats the teens.

It is, but I think it's with a drawn out j at the end... kinda like you're saying shhh, but with a j. Not just "Teej" but "Teejhhh" (if that makes any sense).

"Teej" is cut off with in the top of your mouth, but "Teej(hhh)" is more through the bottom of your mouth...

I feel like an idiot when I try to explain something that I don't know the right words for lol. Also, there's people from all kinds of backgrounds here, so I'm sure someone's rolling their eyes as they read this lol.

Say the Flames win the lottery and get the #3 pick, who would you take? Celebrini goes 1 and Demidov goes 2. Is 3 too early for Iggy Jr? Would you take Lindstrom? Levshunov? Dickenson? Silayev?

In that scenario, I would love it if the flames tried to get another pick between 13 and 8 using a combination of other picks (Vancouver’s 1st + a couple of 2nd round picks) + either Coleman (50% retained) or Andersson. Then use the 3rd over all to get Lindstrom and the 8th-13th overall to get Iginla. That would be the ideal draft result IMO. Both are young players for their draft year and would likely need another season in Junior. They could end up playing on team Canada together even. And they would hopefully be making the flames around the same time.

Unless Conroy makes some big moves this summer, the flames have a decent chance of picking in the top five of 2025. There would be the potential for Lindstrom, Iginla and whoever they pick in 2025 to all make the team out of training camp in the 2025-2026 season. That would make for a pretty exciting season. Obviously that’s not the end of the rebuild… they would have to rebuild their defence through the draft.

Looking at the standings it appears the highest pick the Flames could get pre lottery is 8th. Would need STL, PIT, BUF, and NJD to pass us.

Man some of these teams below us in the standings....

CHI, ANA, SJS, PIT and STL all coming off of years of sustained success. But NJD, BUF, OTT, MTL, ARI and CBJ, just wow. What a bunch of useless orgs that seem to always be picking high in the draft.

NJD at the very least should be better. At least playoff better. They have suffered two major injuries to core players though.

The others are the biggest argument against intentional repeated tanking. Of course, Pittsburgh is the contrary argument.

I'd consider trading both first round picks to move up to get Lindstrom.

If Flames got a top 3 lottery pick, take the Lindstrom if Celebrini is taken at first. Then try to move the other 2024 1st rounder pick as a package to get in position to draft Tij. Otherwise, I think Tij is better of the top 4-12 picks for a center.
