I really miss hearing about what some of you see at training camp. The coaching staff must have wanted to get straight to business without any possible distractions this year.

I wonder what news from today's sessions will make CP moist.

Unfortunately it sounds like practices are going to be closed to the public for the entire year. Not sure what the reason for this is. Maybe for security or staffing issues? Maybe dirty Oilers spies were watching our practices.

That sucks. I was hoping to take my kids to one of the TC sessions. Not sure what the benefit is to closing practices all season. Teams will have game tape.

Maybe to take some of the pressure off the players - pressure might not be the right word. We know it is much different here and maybe 2 key players departing to “quieter” markets gave them pause to think about how they could give players a little more space.

It sounds ridiculous, but does Sutter maybe think there are Oiler or Canuck infiltrators? And so made the camp closed to public?
I can't think of any other reason why having a few dozen fans in the stands would be a problem.

Likely not enough staff to provide proper security with members of the public present. The club probably felt that it wasn’t worth the additional expense. But maybe the team also wanted to get down to business without distractions

When things were exciting/interesting/new I was at preseason practices with a lot more fans than that and all hanging around by the parking to get kids autographs etc….

Sutter is pretty secretive about things, but he also talks about the Fans all the time so I find it odd they would close the doors unless the found out the Oilers actually stole information which wouldn't be surprising.

It’s this. Young fans enjoy this and I have fond memories of my Dad taking me to an occasional Flames or Stamps practice.
There are no military secrets here. You shouldn’t be worried about the Oilers watching your training camp, that’s ridiculous IMO.

I just don't understand why they have Eakin as the placeholder on L2 over Pelletier.
At the very least, give the guy reps with good players. You don't have anything to gain by having Eakin there. I get Mangiapane isn't expected to be out long but Pelletier has earned the opportunity to practice with the big boys. 75 great AHL games trumps a so-so rookie camp.
