Taking a while to get to 5000
|
Not to hijack this thread any more but I'm legitimately surprised by people saying they have good experiences with TSN Direct (Go) and poor ones with SN Now.
SN Now has been excellent on my Apple devices, and only ok on my Amazon Fire sticks (the HD ones - 4K ones are fine with the boost in memory).
TSN Direct is awful on everything that isn't a PC. Can't hold its resolution or framerate for more than a minute at a time. Blurry, clear, blurry, clear.

I had the SN Now/NHL.TV combo last season, so I got all the games. For NHL.TV I used a roku streaming device, which had the NHL app. It worked well.
For Flames games, because of blackouts I had to use SN Now, and to watch on TV I would either use the samsung phone smartview mirroring function with the roku, or I would cast to a google chromecast attached to the TV. Both of these SN Now options were total crap. Often blurry, usually unreliable. SN Now of course has no roku app.
Not sure what to do this season. Interesting comment above about SN Now and the apple tv app. Have others had good results with this system? Can't believe it's so complicated to find a decent option for watching NHL games in Canada. The NHL should be embarrassed.

So with just getting SN now, does that just get me Oilers and Flames games or would it get me the same broadcasts that SN west has on during the year? Or is it forcing a guy to get SN premium?

What about NHL Centre Ice?
Is that better than Sportsnet Now?

So, if I am in Vancouver and wanted to see every Flames game, would I need to get the premium SN Now package, or would the standard package be good enough?
With NHL Live, there was only the one option and it was the same price as the SN standard package, so I didn't have to think about it. I am not sure how blackouts are applied with Sportsnet.

I don't know why people pay SN.
Perhaps there are better options.
Totally better deals if you look.
Value is way off with Canadian telecoms.

Just get a VPN. Use your laptop or phone or ipad and stream via a site I can't say here, and share to your smart tv. Every game, home and away feed. Free except VPN.

I believe you need to buy the Plus package. I’m in Ontario and I was told that the regular one would get me about 80% of the games. There’s always the odd weird blackout with the standard SNNow.
I’m getting very close to just going the VPN route one of these years.

In the US. Using ESPN2. Not expensive. Annoying interface and once in a blue moon national blackout of a flames game, but otherwise great. And inexpensive compared to NHLTV, Satellite, and other options I have used through the years.

Mine streams at 1080p. A good tv will upscale it nicely.

I know NHL Live went away but is NHL Centre Ice still available from cable/satellite providers? If it is, you'll still be able to get that at an early bird price. Unsure what Sportsnet's plan is for early bird pricing if NHL is rolled into their SN Now offering other than a premium price break for a few weeks this month I'd imagine.
Speaking of, us NHL Live subscribers should be getting an e-mail soon with special pricing for SN Now Premium for the year. At least thats what they promised.
