Nhl.tv
I remember a previous thread about NHL TV/Centre Ice but I couldn't find it with the search function?
Does anyone recall when the NHL refresh their season ticket to NHL.TV, currently just showing the monthly subscription. Really looking forward to this season so want to subscribe again and see as many games as possible.

IIRC it's usually 10-14 days before the season starts.
Last year it was september 19 or even a bit later maybe.

I was a little choked the other day when I realized that there is no SN Now app for Roku. Looks like I will have to watch on my laptop, or cast it to the TV using airplay or screen mirroring.
I guess I could get a Chromecast and get the app that way. It's kind of annoying to have to do that though. I know, 1st world problems.

I thought it might be once we get into September and they start ramping up the new season promotions Hopefully the price hasn't gone up too much, it's going to cost more anyway with the exchange rates the way they are right now.

You can’t screencast or mirror the sportsnet app. That option is disabled.
Another triumph by the losers at Rogers.

It's like they want me to go to pirated streaming sources.
Edit: Found this from July 2022, so maybe you can screencast now. It doesn't specifically mention SN Now though.

They are just making it way more tedious than it needs to be.

You can definitely cast from SN Now in the web browser on a desktop/laptop, I used it to watch some of the playoffs and some Jays games.

I'd sooner get the Shawshank prison treatment than pay Rogers for their garbage NHL app

When Rogers keeps screwing up Canadian viewing of the NHL, there are options:

Get the Sportsnet now with the app and enjoy garbage.
Game 5 OT vs. oilers, didn’t work. All season, didn’t work. Apple and Sportsnet / Rogers telling me to go to the other company all season to fix the app.
GAR-BAGE. They owe me $200

I'm wondering why the NHL kyboshed NHL Live and handed over the market to Sportsnet for online streaming. I am guessing Rogers had to pay for it, but you would think the NHL would insist on having a more acceptable platform.
I have never used the Sportsnet app, so I am not speaking from my own experience, but from what I am hearing, it must suck. I'll probably bite the bullet and pay for their service and deal with it. I used to seek out pirated streams, but the quality was hit and miss and lot of the sites are sketchy. I'd rather just pay the money and not foul up my computer.

I watched a game at a buddy's house and he had less-than-legal IPTV service with every live channel from CAN-US-UK imaginable. He can watch it on his TV, phone, or PC, all the games are 1080p/60fps with no stuttering or buffering, and it costs $10/mo. I know piracy is bad, he should feel bad, etc, but when you get such a vastly superior service for less money it's hard to stay on the high horse

I’ve been around friends houses with some of these vastly superior services. Been told I won’t notice the difference.
I noticed the difference.
A few months later, I go round and they have a new vastly superior service.
Rinse and repeat

As someone living in Ontario I've been using the NHL Live service to watch the Flames for years ( ever since I dropped my cable TV service ). It was a bit pricey but overall it was a fantastic service. To get anything close to the equivalent number of games I'd have to sign up for SN NOW Premium at over $100 more than what I've been paying ( despite claims by SN that it would cost the same as last year's NHL Live service ). I'm pretty excited about the upcoming season, but not enough to pay nearly double for an inferior service. If the NHL is trying to grow viewership in the modern streaming era, this is a piss-poor way of going about it.
