It's a no-brainer, he'll probably pay the oilers for the chance to play with mCgreatesteveR.

He’s probably mulling over how he could possibly fit into the Oilers plans considering that AHL juggernaut in Bakersfield, fully stoked and ready to fill the Oilers with a bottomless array of fringe replacement level NHL talent.

In Edmonton if you are not on the top line, you are not going to be playing with a lot of talent. If he wants to hedge his bets, he will choose Calgary.

I doubt the Oilers even knew about him until it was rumoured the Flames were interested. They probably have their scouts stalking our scouts.

If you want to be the scapegoat for missing the playoffs than Edmonton is the better choice.

One year deal so really if he's looking at his next contract he knows in the 2nd half of the season when the Oilers are almost eliminated they will go into full "help Conner try and win the Art Ross & Hart trophy" mode where it's all about the team focusing on personal stats while with the Flames he may get moved around the lineup and isn't likely to get top line duty or even top 6. I would have to think his agent is probably advising him that Edmonton could lead to a better financial future.

I can already hear the cries that if he only scored a few more goals, they wouldn't have missed the 2020 playoffs.

You'd think the plethora of Swedish players here would make the Flames more desirable

But the plethora of women with bruises on their legs and sweatpants could also be enticing to certain individuals and likely won him over.

I love the comments of Nygard - McDavid - Drisiatl. He probably is their number one left wing.

How long before Staples has an article up projecting him to be a top 10 scoring winger next season?

It was probably the best decision as unless he was really, really good it's not likely he would get near the ice time in Calgary that he will in Edmonton. It's probably a guarantee at some point he will spend time on a line with McDavid while there's a very good chance he never would get a sniff of top line duty with the Flames.

I hope Treliving drove the price way up.

Mere minutes!

Quote:
Nygard sounds promising and is a good fit here. He immediately slots in on the Oilers second line, with a centre like Ryan Nugent-Hopkins or Connor McDavid. He has a chance to do something with the opportunity handed to Tobias Rieder, Ryan Spooner, Drake Caggiula, Jesse Puljujarvi, Kailer Yamamoto and others last season. It won’t be difficult to accomplish more than they did, but the Oilers will be hoping for much more, not 0 to ten goals but 15 to 20.
