I love Jordan Klepper, and I admire that he's willing to go into these situations for the sake of comedy. But holy crap, considering how bad things eventually got with the riot at the Capital, it's quite possible that he could have been seriously hurt or even killed while filming this segment. Dude is a braver man than I.

casting an eye towards the next presidential election, republican party leaders had reportedly begun a search tuesday for a new prissy little s***head who would be able to compete against trump in 2024.
“we’ve obviously had a wonderful relationship with president trump, but we feel our interests may best be served by a different whining, prim f***face to lead the party forward,” said rnc chair ronna mcdaniel, confirming that the gop would be looking at figures from politics, media, and law enforcement in an effort to find a candidate with the right mix of froufrou aesthetics and raging a**holishness to build on and expand trump’s base.
“we expect this to be an exhaustive process, as the most obvious prissy little s***heads such as ted cruz and marco rubio have not caught on with the american public as we had hoped, though fortunately, we have thousands of effete f***wads who are clamoring for the position. Whoever we finally select, voters can rest assured it will be a little fancy man absolutely ravaged by insecurity and self-loathing.”
at press time, mcdaniel added that if they could not find such a person, equipping donald trump with a different messaging strategy could make him a great candidate for 2024.

Maybe while they are reconsidering leaving a bull in a china shop in charge for 2 months after it has been ordered euthanized, they may also re-consider this whole presidential pardon thing.

No doubt, pardons are such a strange authority of presidency in the US. A functioning democracy doesn't seem like it should feature anyone having the authority to indiscriminately distribute get out of jail free cards to their buddies, fans and donors.

If it were illegal, you could just get pardoned for that as well I guess.

Do you think he's made less than that amount from being in the White House?

The nice thing about the pardon bribes is that'll all be tucked away and untouchable for the next bankruptcy (which will be quick I imagine).

Yeah, it's weird for sure.
I like it for some reasons. It's let's the president correct some past mistakes or adjust punishments to something more appropriate as society changes. For example, Clinton pardoned some people who were convicted and given huge sentences because they promoted communism or Puerto Rican independence. At the time they were convicted, society saw those things as big dangers and large sentences were considered appropriate. By the time the 1990s rolled around and some of those people were still in jail, it made sense to issue pardons. Or when Obama issued pardons or clemency to people who were given excessive sentences when the war on drugs had lawmakers in a frenzy.
I would also bet that those 2 also abused the system and that every president abuses it, but it can also be used for good. It's just too bad there isn't a better system in place to moderate it.

I think I've heard it from a few of those legal videos or podcasts or The Pope Hat that the pardon power is unassailable, but selling pardons would be corruption and could still be prosecuted but you'd have to have pretty good evidence.
