Stone is worse actually ... 19.8 to 18.5

The rates show how much the top line has played together though. They're pretty tight. 18.5 / 18.1 / 17.5

Sam Bennett at the top is pretty interesting in that he trails only Czarnik and hasn't played a lot with Tkachuk (zero) or Backlund who are the underlying stats kings.

That's fourth line and third line Bennett up the charts.

I see you're continuing the same way from last year. You remember how that ended up right? These are the games the Flames need to win so when come spring they are sitting in a comfortable spot.

Not per 60 minutes. Stone at 34.5 and Lindholm at 37. Stone is actually better than Hanifin (who is worse than Rasmus) if I am reading it right. Referring to high danger chances.

Ahh the pregame thread, where I am constantly reminded that there is a large subset of people who don’t understand what ‘must win game’ means. In any case, we should assert our dominance over a team like this and win handily. A loss would be mildly concerning at this point.

I am actually not happy about that. Czarnik has been pretty good and actually brings something unlike Hathaway.

Nothing is official, but I think there is a high chance of Rags starting Marek Mazanec tonight. Georgiev has been sent down to get more ice-time since King Henrik has been spectacular lately. This game is a first half of back-to-backs for them, the other one against Florida is really important for them, so they will probably want to keep Lundquist fresh for tommorow. Mazanec has a career 89,5%. If he is really starting, then for sure this is a must-win.

EDIT: My mistake, they play Panthers at tuesday, not tommorow.

Technically no but if they lay an egg against a clear weaker bottom feeder team like they have in past years the pitchforks will surely come out.

Henrik Lundqvist is still an elite goaltender, He could single handily win this game, he'll be 37 years of age this coming Winter.

6gp 2.31 .930
3 years remaining at $8,500,000

That's why he makes the big bucks!

Ok sure. I want them to win, I think they should, it would be nice. But it’s not a must-win.

Must win is never a great term, but so much of a season can be established by getting on the right side of things in the first six weeks of the season.

Tough start in Vancouver, but then they win two in a row and things are fine. Loss in St. Louis has concern again as they go to .500. Back to back wins over good teams and all is well. Loss to Nashville happens, but now they can get back to two games over and maybe get points in both road games. Do that and you're a week from the end of October and sitting 5-3-1, don't and you're .500 or worse.

Getting ahead allows them to rest Smith appropriately, and not panic.

I looked again to make sure my math was ok

Stone is worst on the team with 31 high danger chances against, and that translates to 19.8 with his ice time (94 minutes to date)

Gaudreau and Monahan have 30 with similar minutes. Lindholm has 28 with less minutes (Lindholm 90, Gaudreau 103 minutes)

It's not a must-win, but it sure as hell isn't ok to lose it.

The Preds, Oilers, Avalanch have already got two points off the Rangers and the Sharks a loser point. If the Flames are going to become a contender this season they need to get points against lowly teams other teams in the conference are taking advantage of. They have played poorly in this building for a while now but there's no excuse for another MSG stinker today.
