Would Smith be a better goalie if he didn't handle the puck? Not a fan of his stickhandling.

The Flames are improved. I'd say in their losses, they were even or out-chanced the other team. The other goailes have been better.

Freakin Preds took 3 penalties on the empty net goal but I guess the refs aren't allowed to call penalties when there's an empty net.

Need to stop playing Smith if he hasn't had two nights of rest. He's 36 now.
Thought the Flames overall played well and deserved to win.
Also officiating was very poor.

If they can keep up this level of play for the year, they'll be just fine.
That was two good teams, playing well.

Refs actually being held accountable would be a great start...

Hard fought loss.. It was the refs that made this one frustrating, not the team's play.
And Backlund... what horrible luck he has right now!

2 blatant highsticks late, including on Gaudreau who had the puck. Linesmen can call highsticks too, so all 4 officials missed both?

The Predators are an elite team, and they have a good game.
Overall, it was a close and amusing game. It was close the entire time.
The referees were not very coherent tonight. Smith weak again. Neal took a bad penalty, but helped to make quality chances (he couldn't finish though). Brodie made some notable mistakes.
I liked Ryan, Bennett, Lindholm, Giordano, Backlund, and Gaudreau.

Bummer. But I sure do enjoy watching the Flames this early 2018–19 season. It feels like they should win every game.

Smith has been absolutely brutal in every game except the shut out. Give Rittich a few starts.
The game isn’t all on Smith but he let in 4 goals on his first 24 shots and got absolutely lit up by arguably the worst player in the NHL. Rinaldo shouldn’t even be in the league and the guy roofs it on you like he’s Ovechkin...
But on a positive note, Sam Bennett looks like he might finally have taken the next step! He was fantastic!
Treliving better figure out the goaltending quick. You can’t be expected to score 5+ goals every game.

That was a fun game. I thought the Flames were the better team overall, but just couldn't get that tying goal in the dying minutes, no thanks to all those missed calls by the refs.
Preds are an elite & dangerous team. Can't let up for even a second against those guys.
Bennett played his best game as a Flame IMO. Loved his effort tonight.

Teams seem to be taking a lot of far side blocker shots at Smith when they come down on the rush. It's clearly a weakness for him.
