The fact the new show was so popular, despite Roseanne's unsavoury public image, hasn't been lost on TV producers. It wouldn't surprise me at all if we see a blatant rip-off next year. Blue-collar family, Red state, politically incorrect or controversial (but not too controversial) star.
His show was originally cancelled, despite being successful show, shortly after he did a Jimmy Kimmel interview where he was pretty harsh on Hollywood politics. Though the studio claims that had nothing to do with their decision to cancel the show.

Tim Allen is a known Trump supporter, he also tends to put his foot in his mouth at times, we will see if his show goes the distance.
Being a Trump supporter certainly didn't seem to hurt the ratings of Roseanne. America is a big place, and lots of people support Trump. People in Blue states and Red states pretty much watch entirely different TV shows.
Roseanne deserves to be out of a job. But I'm not sure if we want to see an entertainment world where TV shows are cancelled because of the political views of their cast.

She deserves to be out of a job because her show was ####ing horrible. I can't think of a less funny show, and that includes both incarnations of her show.
Awful TV.

I didn't mean to imply that it would hurt his ratings, just that in this particular climate, he will have to watch himself in interviews etc. to not sabotage himself.
Kimmel's become an idiot himself. His analogies on his show, and his fake "because it's 2018" arguments are ridiculous. I was a huge fan of his show and he's gone downhill in the past 4 years or so. Defending Rosanne? He's been suddenly very PC and this is pretty bizarre.

Kimmel is also implying that every racist or every person susceptible to wild conspiracy theories are mentally ill. That has always been my suspicion as well, to be honest. Perhaps what America needs is for Donald Trump, Sean Hannity, Alex Jones, Jack Posobiec, Mike Cernovich, David Duke, Stephen Miller, etc. get treatment for their mental illnesses.
