Default Wild 4 Flames 2

Flames end up on the wrong side of one they likely deserved. Likely a good sign in my mind. It's coming.

Good writeup. I agree about Monahan. He has looked as good through the first eight as he ever has. I think he could score 40 this year.

Good write up. I have been very surprised at how little mention Stalock is getting. He didn't even get a star at the Dome, despite being the difference in the game. All 3 goals by the Wild were great plays or shots. That Spurgeon goal isn't even that great a chance to give up but he put it in exactly the right place. Same with the Stewart goal... Smith was in perfect position for anything but a guy batting his own rebound out of the air.

I thought Ferland was at least a little more noticeable tonight. He carried the puck a little and I saw at least one good hit. Not sure where he fits on this team with Jagr in the line up but if he could be a 15-15 guy for them on the third line I think that would be enough.

from the other teams perspective:

Second half of the back to back after a night where you finished with no points in the first game after having a 3-2 lead. You are starting a goalie that is just barely hanging on in the NHL. You are missing 4 of your top-6 forwards (over 20M in cap space). You are counting on Chris Stewart to score 1/3 of all your goals.

Flames did play very well from parts I saw. Not sure one game marks a trend but certainly a step in the right direction albeit against what should have been a tired team. Some consistently solid play sure would be nice.

I have to disagree on the Jankowski front. I don’t see why a top 9 piece needs to be moved for him. He needs to be playing on the big club and then demonstrating that he has earned a top 9 role. There are too many marginal forwards on this team right now for him not to be seeing the ice in some capacity.

Turnovers for me. They need to ban RHCP from the locker room. It seemed like a lot of giveaways to me or very noticeable ones. Early in the game Brodie has the puck between the top of the circles, is on his backhand, and decides to pass up the middle and gets nothing on it. Turnover in our own end with numbers coming the other way which we were luckynto get out of. Before Spurgeons goal we turned it over 2-3 times in our end scrambling to get possession and then give it away in the neutral zone with poor passing to have it end up in our net albeit on a super shot.

You're not the only one. I had to look it up.
