If we'd been given a slow buildup showing the tension building, viewers would be complaining about the slow pace. It was the right choice to jump ahead.

I though that was a decent episode. Maggie and Daryl are clearly going to screw up the peaceful plans.
I wonder what's happening with the disappearing saviors? At first I though they were setting up a group on their own, but that moment at the end changed that.
Any thoughts on what happens to Rick? Is he gonna die, or just go away? Will Neagan get out and kill him?

Yea, that was much better than the premiere.
As for Rick's departure, there's no way the show runners are gonna let him go out like a chump. They'll probably have him saving everyone after all hell breaks loose. Then he'll say his goodbyes to the group, leave Maggie in charge of the communities, and ride off into the sunset like a badass.
This of course will set up the inevitable Rick Grimes spin-off series where he roams the countryside alone like Mad Max, getting into adventures and helping people in need.
As for Negan, I still think Maggie ends up killing him.

Interesting...I wonder if he gets himself in an un-winnable situation in a conflict between all the groups and his only choice is to leave.

Isn't Maggie also done after this season?

Oh yea, I forgot about that. So who takes over leadership then? I'm thinking Ezekiel would be the obvious choice, or maybe Carol or Michonne.

Maybe Rick cheats on Michone with Maggie, and Michone whips out her swords and is all like "you better just get on that horse and get outta here or I'll be giving you the zombie Rick treatment." Exit Rick and Maggie. All clean like.

I'll say this as I knock on a chunk of wood: I am actually digging this season so far. They're building both subtle and obvious tension, planting seeds of doubt, and using characters well.
For the first time in a long while I actually sympathized with one of the characters when Aaron lost his arm.
The changes they made behind the scenes seem to have helped. Hope it keeps up.

Alright I didn't mind that episode, it kinda sucked me back in. Some good tension between some main characters, and then some unknowns (the helicopter still, the unknown person at the end, the sanctuary folks).
Not too shabby.

Is whatsherface the only one who can see helicopters? How has no one else noticed them? I'm not sure I like the helicopter thing, will have to see where they go with it.

Another solid episode tonight. Apparently the next two episodes are Rick's final ones, so it'll be interesting to see how his character bows out.

Yep this episode sucked me back in. At least will see it through to see Rick’s fate. And find out garbage lady’s deal too. They have done a nice job this season.

You can tell they have different people at the helm of the show as it has been substantially better.

That was another strong episode, especially the Rick and Darryl scenes. Just a much better job of building tension this year. Although the Michonne and Negan scenes were dull. Everything else good.
The previews for next week though have me a little nervous. This show is not at its best when it tries to go heavy and deep. We shall see.

Doesn’t sound like it. They brought in new writers and are trying to bring the show back to its roots. So far the season has been great. They are definitely building a base. Imo.
