To Calgary:
Kent Johnson
2024 1st round pick (lottery protected)
2025 3rd round pick (becomes a 2nd round pick if the Blue jackets make the playoffs in 2025 or a 1st round pick if the blue jackets make it to the 3rd round of the playoffs in 2025)
Jake Bean
To Columbus:
Noah Hanifin (30% retained)
Elias Lindholm (extended)
Daniel Vladar (30% retained)

Hanifin has to be worth more than Jake Bean and turning a 2nd into a 1st and a 4th into a 3rd. Jake Bean is a 25 yr old dman who is pretty mediocre at hockey. Hanifin would be worth more than that even without retention.

Ya then you would have something. Bean will be available on waivers sometime in the next 18 months if we want him.

Friedman suggests Hanifin could land in Arizona, which is pushing to make the playoffs this year:

15. Kinda suspect the Sharks called Calgary about Noah Hanifin. Don’t see that as a fit. Another team I wonder about is Arizona. Coyotes have the second-best goal differential in the Central, and a desire to push for the playoffs. As this situation plays out, I am curious to see if an extension becomes part of the conversation. It benefits Hanifin, and benefits the Flames in any return.

I have a hard time thinking AZ would part ways with Geekie given how well he's played in Wenatchee this year.
I wonder a little about Guenther ... I think AZ might value Geekie higher than him. Guenther is down in the A and playing well, but the Coyotes already have a lot of wingers. Could see them thinking he's expendable. But I'm not sure if Hanifin would be the right play in that scenario.

Ya, not as big on Guenther. If they don't want to deal Geekie for a 27 year old top 4 D man on a long term deal that's fine, we can deal him elsewhere. That is the kind of return value Hanifin should get back.

Yotes have 10 2nd rounders over the next 3 seasons.
I imagine they'll want to start building using some of those.
I could see it being straight up picks for hanifin from the yotes.. 1st + x2 2nds.
I also wouldn't be supprised if this org still tries to make a hockey deal to stay competitive and tries to get crouse + 2nd. Not sure the coyotes would go for it if they're trying to be competitive.
"But, as the Flames peruse the trade market (and they’ve begun seeing what’s out there), they will target individuals who they believe are a fit with Huberdeau."

Toronto feels like a team that could target Tanev (and Friedman has alluded to as much before). He’s everything they lack.
Going back to the last 32 Thoughts, Toronto targeting Tanev and Zadorov makes a lot of sense.

I think Guenther would/should be way ahead of Geekie on their depth chart, and it should be far easier to pry Geekie away from them than Guenther.
How about Daniil But? They ain't trading Simashev....

I watched a lot of Guenther last year with the T-birds. He's a great player
Would love to have him on the Flames.

Simashev and But are a package deal from Lokomotiv, I can't see them moving either one.
Geekie is playing unreal hockey with Wenatchee. I can't see them moving a big potential top-six centre.
Guenther is older than any of them and is in the AHL. He's playing well, but AZ has so much talent on the wings already (Keller, Maccelli, Schmaltz, etc). I think he's far more likely to move, although I'm still skeptical.

Guenther is a 6'2" RW, and he put up 15 points in 33 NHL games as a 19 year-old, on a pretty weak Coyotes team.
Geekie is a 6'4" C who has put up more than a ppg in the WHL the last 3 years.
Hard to say if we would get either for Hanifin, but I doubt it.

That's kind of the problem with trading with AZ. They've picked high recently, which means their prospects are probably out of reach for a guy like Hanifin.
The only other guy who makes any sense is Maveric Lamoureux, but AZ's D pipeline is much weaker. I can see them moving him, but they don't have much else in the offing.

Hanifin just seems like too much of a swing for the Yotes when they are looking to start peaking in 3-4 years. Why waste assets on a rental now?

Still love Lawson Crouse, and I really believe he would be good on our team, especially because we lack players like him. 7 points in 11 games so far. Same age as Hanifin.
Yikes, Barrett Hayton only has 1 point in 12 games. He looked like he was starting to turn a corner last year....
