Will the media predict the Oil are a cup contender again? Just like the last few years with new coaches etc? Or has the media learned about feeding a dog that bites you??

At least they have McDavid though. I'd say they're more like McLaren the last few years with Alonso. Except at least Alonso has won something in his life. And like McLaren thinking moving on from Eric Boullier would fix anything the Oilers are just shuffling deck chairs at this point

The " Golden State Warriors of the NHL."
Starring Connor McDavid, Tyler Benson, Drake Caggiula, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Jordan Eberle and Leon Draisaitl.

Hitchcock is a well respected defensive specialist with a ton of success on his resume. Not sure how Tippett is better.

Well, IMO McDavid is more Leclerc. Perfectly capable of setting the fastest lap, but let down by his team all season. A team that they will tell you over and over is prestigious and great... but they can't get much going.
But I like Stroll quite a bit for the Oilers, as Edmonton is not Ferarri. Can't soil that soon-to-be-great-again name. The Canadian Rich Boy that's buying his way into the sport and making a mess of it. They'll shout the loudest if anything remotely good happens, but everyone that knows even the tiniest about the sport knows you're absolutely garbage.

Just let me be sure here.
So...their goaltending is bad.
Their defence is worse.
Their forwards after the 'Big 3' are basically AHL washouts.
Oh yes. This has 'disciplined defensive play' written all over it.
|
Their “Big 3” forwards all had career years last season - and certainly are more likely to fall back a bit than get better - especially Drai and his shooting percentage.
What’s Edmonton going to look like with that Goaltending, that D, and worse performance from the top forwards?

I do like the Stroll/McDavid whiny boy with a rich dad comparison. McDavids dad on tv was the most I ever wanted to punch my screen.
Now if he bought the team the comparison would be complete

This will not work out for the Oilers.. Expect McDavid to be in the 75-85 point range max

Wanna bet? If McDavid is less than a ppg next season I'll leave this site and never post again. All I'd ask for your side of the bet it to refrain from posting anything negative about Edmonton for 6 months.

Okay I guess we can give the Oilers credit for hiring someone competent but isn't Tippett's style similar to Hitchcock's? So there will be 3 more seasons of overplaying the big 3 with the other 9 forwards all sitting back playing defence. Have fun Oilers fans.

What kind of a bet is that? Not a single person with a remote interest in NHL, hockey, cities, or even the world and life in general would be able to live up to that bet. Edmonton is no good, everyone knows it, and everyone shares it.

heh.
thought it was ridiculous to state having tippet as coach would make Mcdavid a 75 point player, 85 MAX.
might as well offer a ridiculous bet to match.
to be honest, I don't think he cares enough about how many points McDavid gets to have any urge to bet on it.

If it's a ridiculous statement, then the wager should be heavily one-sided.
