Does anyone else have deja vu of when the sharks jersey was announced. I seem to remember a lot of complaints about how teal wasn’t a hockey colour, wasn’t masculine, etc.
Not that I think salmon is a great colour, but let’s wait to see the concept before criticizing!!

I'd prefer to see the teal colour more of an emerald, and the red should probably be more salmon-y. I love the fact that they are stepping out of the normal colour schemes and using brighter colours. I'll probably be picking up a jersey in the near future.

I don't mind the colours but the one issue I have (assuming this is the way they go) is, they had a poll to ask fans what colours they want and not only was this not chosen, it wasn't even really one of the options. I think primary green won.
I guess my issue is, why even bother having that poll if this is what you're going to do?

Awesome.
I just love that this team is going to steal a good player away from the Flames in two years time and then use that player (among others) to legitimately attempt to steal a playoff spot away from the Flames during the current cores limited contention window.
Good times.

On a side note - man is this a long ways away. That extra year they added on at the last minute seems like an eternity. Two full NHL seasons away from even picking their roster.

What was their expansion fee? $600 million? I wouldn't call that stealing and really, provides and advantage for those teams that are well managed and can plan for it appropriately vs. those that can't. Of course as fans, we don;'t get to see much of that expansion fee and instead hear how teams can't operate profitably but that's another story.
From a competitive standpoint, western conference teams have had an "unfair" advantage for a number of years. Pre Vegas, 8 of 14 made the playoffs vs 8 of 16 in the East. That is a statistically meaningful advantage. This will just bring it back to even across the league but I'm sure the NHL is on its way to expanding the playoffs anyway.

Because fan-polls are notoriously bad.
Didnt they do the same with the Colorado Avalanche to name the team? Then the poll winner was dumb and they just named them whatever they wanted to anyways.

I looked this up -- apparently ownership wanted to go with "Rocky Mountain Extreme". When it leaked, the public backlash was so negative they immediately canned it and decided to go with something else.

A designer named SparkyChewBarky made a whole bunch of concept jerseys. We took 6 of them and made them into actual uniforms at our Seattle Draft Tournament.
