Have you looked at a map? At least 5 other teams closer to Vegas then Dallas. Heck I think Calgary is just as close as Dallas is. Not a big deal but Vegas and Dallas are a long ways a part.

I mostly am referring to the fact that they're both considered to be in the Southwestern US, California teams have their rivalries, no one cares about Arizona, and Dallas doesn't have any big rivalries that I know of.
You're right that they are not close in distance

Plus, they're in different Divisions.

No one considers Dallas "in the Southwestern US". Technically it may be, but Dallas is in Texas, and never grouped with the western states.

The natural rival for Vegas would be the LA teams and then Arizona next.

Dallas has no natural geographic rival in pro sports that I can think of. You would think Houston but those rivalries have never really developed.

Starting to think rivalries are becoming increasingly rare, outside of college sports where they are abundant.

Nice pregame ceremony in Dallas for the victims in Las Vegas. Way to go Knights on the win, Fleury and Neal were awesome. The Battle of Florida, episode 1, goes to the Lightning. Tampa Bay had a 2-0 lead and the cats came back to tie it in the 2nd period, then 3 Lightning strikes in the final period. Palat with 2 goals and Brayden Point assisted on both of them and scored a goal for a 3 point night. Vasilevskiy was busy as he faced 36 Panther shots. Loserongo faced 24 shots. The BJs go on the offense with 3 goals in the 2nd period. The Columbus rookies, Milano and Dubois, put on a show by scoring their first goals. Milano scores his 1st career goal just 67 seconds into the game. Panarin with 3 assists and Halak gets the SHUTOUT stopping all 29 shots.
