@GoldenKnights
There won't be any advertisements on the boards tonight. Instead, our boards will reflect who we are. #VegasStrong

Not sure if the GM knows what he’s doing but it appears that ownership and PR are really on top of things.

They said at the presser yesterday with the national media that tonight isn't the "real" home opener. They're going to hold back some of the stuff they were going to do for the game on Friday against the Red Wings instead because of the need to honor the first responders, etc. from last week.

It's hard not to like this team. Then you remember who their GM is and it becomes a lot easier.

I've warmed to the jerseys, am impressed with the logo, don't love the palette, can't understand the roster...
...but really like this team.

I think people had it all figured out how they would assemble the Knights if they were GM.
He went in a very different direction with a very unusual philosophy that had people scratching their heads. Therefore he was dumb and doesn't know what he is doing. Hence, one cannot like him. Something along those lines anyhow.

I like him because he is helping our team get easier points by assembling a crappy team.

I'm not saying he's dumb but I don't know how well his philosophy is going to pay off. He held a lot of teams hostage and upset GM's with the way he handled the expansion draft and tried to gouge them further by selling off a bunch of the defensemen he took from teams. It hasn't worked out to date. Then with a surprisingly amount of decent players available he assembles a team build to finish last in a league where finishing last no longer guarantees picking first overall. Maybe he is the smartest guy in the room or maybe LV fans are in store for the Doug MacLean like journey of how not to build an expansion team. Too early to tell but I don't think you have 4-5 years in that market to build a competitive team.

Thats the thing...he is looking at the long game here.
You may be right and he has gone the wrong way about doing things, but I suspect he laid this out in detail to Foley before deciding on this way of doing things. Its also why he went hard after Kelley McCrimmon to join him. He needed that knowledge from building teams through the draft like Brandon has always had to do, along with his knowledge of junior and his ties to literally hundreds of guys in the game.
Also, you are right, time will tell. I kind of think its a risk as well, but if he hits on it, he will look like a genius.
I posted this a few days ago in the Pickard thread..

Agree with it or not, but Duha was on the radio and explained that GMGM had a pretty clear plan that he has executed.
It was this; All he was concerned about was setting the team up to be good sooner rather than later, but not necessarily right away.
What GM has done is combined 3 drafts into one this past draft when he had 3 1st rounders, 2 2nds and an early 3rd. He figures by doing it this way it will accelerate the draft and develop process and make Vegas relevant within a few years. Playing the long game but getting to it in the shortest possible timeline.
Now you are seeing him upgrading what he has on hand moving forward. The move to claim Subban is just that in his mind.
Going to be interesting to see if it pays off for him or he doesn't last long enough to see it through. Losing gets old fast and particularly in a new market with very little hockey culture.
