He's going to the AHL.
@PierreVLeBrun
Vegas had tried all week to move Pickard, but after clearing waivers he was more desirable as he could be sent to AHL by his new team
@LeafsPR
Pickard has been assigned to the @TorontoMarlies of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Good trade for the Leafs. They have assembled a pretty good team.

smart move, cheap acquisition cost.
not sure why Vegas thinks Subban's going to be better than Pickard... but there isn't much I understand about what Vegas is doing.

Pickard will never be more than a backup, Subban could be a number one with time and effort. Kinda a calculated risk for an expansion team

I wonder if that's just until McBackup can clear waivers.

So basically it's Lindberg, Subban and a 6th for Pickard?

A bunch of meh for a slightly more than meh player.
Subban may have more upside to the Knights. I was listening to the fan and one guy was saying their goalie coach was really really high on Subban and wanted to work with him.
Pickard I've never seen the upside with.

for the same reason Colorado protected Varlamov over Pickard.
Pickard just isn't very good. All he ever did was play a bunch of games for a really crappy Avs team.

I think this is a good series of moves for Vegas. I mean they have no real need for a competent back-up (so they can bare any growing pains Subban has adjusting to NHL level skaters in a way that Boston couldn't), Younger then Pickard so could conceivably be a replacement for Fleury when Fleury is done, bit of "brand name" recognition maybe being PK's brother.
Sucks for Pickard thou.

Why was a contract spot worth a 3rd or 4th line centre and a 6th round pick?
They could have had Pickard for free

I think that because he's cleared waivers, leafs could trade for him and keep him in the A if they so chose too.
If they claimed him on waivers, they'd have to keep him at the nhl level. I might be wrong

Lindberg is actually good though.
