The number that I'm most curious about is Wotherspoon. Does he go back to 56? Maybe jump to 6? Try something completely out-of-left-field? The possibilities are ENDLESS!

I am extremely disappointed with this, having affectionately called Hathaway all last year as "Nintendo 64".

I like #21 for Hathaway. They gave Foo #15, right?

Yeah, Foo got 15. Explains why Glass got that in reverse, considering that was his number with the Rangers.

Bubble player from NYR we signed July 1st. Solid AHL player basically, but got a few call ups with the Rangers.

Hrivik should essentially fill in Vey's role in the org. Not a ton of upside, but serviceable depth.

I wouldn't worry. Players sometimes get higher numbers and don't make the team or just have a cup of coffee on the main roster.

That being said, Grossmann made the team so.....yeah....

It would be cool if every Flames player wore number 97.

Even if they just did it in warmup against the Oilers once.

Minds would be blown. And I'm all for trolling the Oilers.

Gazdic has 147 NHL games on his resumé, so I see this as a courtesy extended to a veteran. It is an entirely different situation than with Grossman, and I can't see who he could possibly displace on the opening night roster to play more than a handful of games this season.

Grossman played 3 games. It cost the team nothing in terms of the cap. They lost the first three games 7-4, 5-3 and 2-1 in a shootout; there's only so much blame that can lay at the hands of the 6th defenseman.

Giving the rest of the team the benefit of the doubt, they still win at most two of those first three games, which still has them 4th in the division.

Grossman, as he's always been, is irrelevant.
