In Canada, it doesn't get much bigger than TSN. From what I can gather, they are both quintissentially Canadian and Torontonian. Given their popularity I bet their earning potential would be quite high on Canadian sports TV.
As a TV sports personality its not like they would be chasing the big opportunities of Hollywood and the American music industry.
This isn't a criticism, its more my ignorance on what type of opportunity they would be chasing by moving across the continent completely away from the Canadian sports landscape that seems to be their bread and butter.

I would guess money. 30M is the total candian market and their total reach, but no further. I'm sure a gig Nationally at Fox (if that's what it is) to a much larger market comes with a much larger pay check. Just a guess, but being a National anchor in Canada has to be the quivalent to being a regional anchor in say New York or California, so the only way to move up and increase your pay check is to increase your market size.
