Given the pick they got was higher than Calgary’s Treliving would have to sweeten the deal (and it seems they want picks). So I assume that all the people complaining that Treliving spends picks would be happy with a 2nd and a 3rd for Bean? For a player at a position where Calgary already has 3 guys under 24?

I doubt it would be a 3rd for 45th instead of 44th. More like Flames throw in a 6th and they get a 7th or something.

That being said, I do not have high expectations for Brad. If he can avoid hurting the team like Benning did to the Canucks I will be happy.

I was one pick higher and apparently he's been available since the expansion draft closed. You don't have to jump to Treliving's defence and justify him every time someone mentions his name.

Well this is a steal for CBJ. Bean could be as good as Jones in a couple of years, and they get Boqvist and a first to boot. Two trades and you've got a whole rebuild.

Am I missing something on Bean? Hasn't his career been pretty pedestrian so far? Why do so many people want to spend assets on him?
