Monahan should definitely get us a top 10 pick then...

When do the players in Buffalo finally get the credit they deserve for the team being complete ####? There's a reason the Sabres suck. Their players aren't good at hockey and don't give a rip about playing team hockey. Risto will go to Philly and be just as bad as he was in Buffalo. His GAF meter almost always registers on E.

I might like Hagg more than Risto. He is unspectacular, but can actually play defense.

Konency for Monahan straight up. Alt: Monahan for Voracek with $2.5 retained and a pick.

Philly's D next season though:
Provrov-Ellis
Sanheim-Ristolainen
York-Myers
That's a large d and lots of puck moving talent.

This makes sense if you really believe in the amateur scouting you did back when he was drafted and you really really believe the Sabres and their coaching are a catastrophe and Risto is redeemable. He has raw skills, size, skating, shot, and hits like a truck.

That's why it's interesting. Was Hall terrible or just in Buffalo? Eichel? Reinhart? It seems like the sum of their parts was lesser than the individual pieces.

Yep.
Turned a free agent in Hall into a 2nd round pick while also getting the 1st overall pick in this year's draft. He didn't really make any mistakes in Year 1, and this trade is such a magnificent win for him.
Unlike Mr. Fletcher

agreed - they paid too much for Ristolainen, and probably to get rid of Gost as well. But nonetheless, a big upgrade in players.

Oh yeah I agree, but he hasn't made many big moves at all to really judge.
Any Ristolainen / Reinhart / Eichel deals have to be wins for Buffalo. If they Ryan O'Reilly them it'll set the franchise on another decade of mediocrity.
One for one so far!
