If that's the case, we need to get Neal and Smith back. Trade our 1st and 2nd round picks to Edmonton for both of them with no salary retention...

I’m not the one to do it but someone should start a thread in the dog days of the offseason to draft the “best team with the worst attitudes”.

I would move Johnny and jumpstart the rebuild with additional picks and prospects. Keep our first and draft Matthew Coronato. See if you can also move Monahan. Between Johnny and Monahan you’d love to get a ‘22 first in the combined packages, giving you added draft bullets for next year.

1) keep 12OA, as we need to keep picks and stock up on young, cost controlled players
2) Look to move one of Gaudreau/Monahan for picks or young(ish) players
3) Refer to the return of 1) and 2) as "draft capital" so as to see Pepsi's head explode.

I would hire a chimpanzee as my new assistant GM. He would need to wear a train conductor uniform at all times. He would make all my draft picks. They would all be invalidated as there is no player named "banana" available. He would be the one to go to the podium to announce our pick and he would knock Bettman out cold with the microphone.
