Monahan, Kylington 2021 2nd for Dvorak, OEL 1.5m retained.

I really hate the idea of moving Monahan but this si really something I can see Tree and Maloney Bologna doing.

Monahan is not McDavid, but people are behaving like he is Ed Ward.

Gio leaving just opened up some cap flexibility which we can leverage, we provide AZ with some cap relief, pick up a couple decent players and a 1st rounder.

I like it!
I'd only entertain that if it as their 22 first will be a lotto pick. No way AZ includes their first.
No 21 1st for them.

Only if Lucic is going the other way.

IMO we win Monahan for Dvorak. Maybe 2 years ago monahan was worth more but he’s had 7 surgeries of late. Not sure how that hasn’t hurt his value or raise concerns on him moving forward. Dvorak has 4 years left on a deal for 2 mil less per year. Once again why people don’t value this?

If OEL was in the deal I would think the Flames would get something or get salary retained. But we are dreaming if monahan gets us Dvorak straight up these days

If we can flip monahan for Dvorak and oel was this the deal I would do it if the retained a mil or 1.5. I get OEL has declined but some think getting Hyman for $6 mil for 7 years is good but oel at 6.75 for 7 years is terrible? They are about the same age too and OEL plays in a much worse situation to succeed

Garland is a lot more productive 5v5 if you look beyond point totals from shortened seasons. His G/60, P/60 etc are all top notch

Dvorak/Monahan could be a value wash because Dvorak has the superior contract

So is a first rounder for Garland a bad deal? He is entering his prime and is very good at a position of dire need

I’d pull the trigger if Yotes were willing

Even with 1.5 retained, OEL is not worth the cap hit.

Arizona/Seattle related: Apparently the team interested in Tyler Pitlick is the Flames (just on Rintoul & Surman right now)

Naa. Just don’t wanna be a Leafs fan with my blinders on. Realistically the negatives on the team outweigh the positives this past season. There isn’t a vision for the team at the moment. No high end prospects, the stars have been mediocre, so where is the blind positivity? Treliving has to pull off something big to bring back some light.

so then why not just offer up the first for Garland? would people be fine with that?

I'm not saying he is, I'm saying this is a thing the Flames would totally do. I hope they don't but fully expecting something like this. The 2 ex GMs of ARZ manning the helm in CGY bringing on two of their prized picks from years ago.and Maloney was the guy who made that Dvorak puck too.

But if you try to look from the Flames logic, they'd get a 6.75m 30 year old d man who instantly replaces Gio. I dont know, I look at the puzzle board that Is the Flames right now and it makes a ton of sense.

Better than acquiring their first pick from 2020.

Dvorak replaces Backlund and not Monahan. His offence is lacking for a high end #2. Since 2018/2019 he is 94th in scoring for centers and Monahan is 27th. Last season was Dvorak's best season and he was 50th.

I guess I don't understand what's so bad about OEL.

He must have terrible advanced stats or something.

He's a good skater, has decent size, hits a ton, is still only 30 which isn't old for a Dman, and usually good for a half a point per game.

His AAV is certainly too high and it goes until he's 36, so the contract isn't pretty but unless there is something I'm missing IMO he would sure help fill the hole just left by Gio's departure.

I already know which posters will hate this, but he is what the team needs for the bottom 6.

Hopefully the price isn't too high.

It is amazing how many people have no clue how talented Dvorak is. He should be a 1B, 2A player on a good team.

Monahan, Dube, Kylington, 2nd for Dvorak, OEL, Garland's RFA rights, Raanta's UFA rights

Too much, not enough?

Gaudreau-Lindholm-Mangiapane
Tkachuk-Dvorak-Dube (or X)
Lucic-Backlund-X (or Dube)
Pelletier-Ruzicka-Ritchie

I can live with.

I can see Dvorak and OEL coming here, don't see a 170 lb RW getting the OK from Sutter especially with Gaudreau and Mangiapane already in the top 6.
