Dvorak is a higher end second line centre who is 25, and getting better each year. Has a decent well rounded game, with no glaring deficiencies. I would speculate that offering Monahan straight across might not be enough to land him.
Lindholm - Dvorak - Backlund - Ruzicka is better than last year. Then spend every ounce of effort on landing a premiere RW, and signing Gaudreau and/or Tkachuk to reasonable deals.

Something around Monahan for Dvorak kind of makes sense.
Monahan is better offensively, but Dvorak is way better defensively and is also a way better skater. He's also a touch younger, has a smaller AAV and more term.
Lindholm
Dvorak
Backlund
Is actually a fairly decent top 3 C's all with two way ability.

Limited players without NMC or No trade Clauses. Slim pickings.

Can't see ARI taking Monahan - the reason Dvorak is on the block is that they are trying to shed payroll.

We seriously don’t want Arizona’s 2021 1st.

Monahan+1st for Dvorak and Garland?
Flames add 2 25 year old top 6 forwards with control (Garland can sign a long term deal and Dvorak is locked up long term). Hate the trade the 1st but prefer that to Dube or another piece
Gaudreau-Lindholm-Tkachuk
Mangiapane-Dvorak-Garland

Apparently a 65 million internal budget or something according to Yotes fans on HF.
That is why they are open to moving Garland and Dvorak.

I would agree, and would bet that OEL would also be a part of any AZI/CGY deal as well.
Flames free up some cap going from Monahan to Dvorak, almost $2 million in fact.
Add that to the Gio contract being off the books now and there is your cap space for OEL.
I know most Flames fan don't want to hear that though.

Dvorak and OEL are around a 16 mil cap hit.
Monahan and Rasmus are around 10.5.
Gio leaving just opened up some cap flexibility which we can leverage, we provide AZ with some cap relief, pick up a couple decent players and a 1st rounder.
I like it!

I've got it in my head you can get ARZ to retain 1.5m of that yearly 8.25 and still come out ahead.

last year was Monahan's worst season but he still got as many points as Dvorak and slightly less than Garland but we're adding a first???? is that to compensate for the enormous 2 year age gap between them?

On topic, didn't he play with Tkachuk in the O? Would be interesting to see how they look together again
